Role of Seniority Where applicants have skills and qualifications which are relatively equal, the applicant with the greater seniority shall be selected.
Department Seniority Department seniority is defined as continuous length of service in calendar days within the employee’s department and where applicable, shall be used for internal department processes, such as vacation and schedule bids.
District Seniority District seniority is defined as the length of continuous paid employment with the District, calculated from the date of original hire, including the probationary period, if any, in a regular position.
Equal Seniority If two (2) or more employees subject to layoff have equal class seniority, the determination as to who shall be laid off will be made on the basis of the greater hire date seniority, and if that be equal, then the determination shall be made by lot.
Company Seniority An employee's total accumulated time of employment with the Company which has not been interrupted by a continuous period in excess of six (6) months.
Use of Seniority Seniority shall be used to determine the relative rights of employees within an occupational group as expressly set forth in this Agreement. Seniority shall not be deemed to establish any right to the continuation of the performance of any work at the Company nor to the continuation of any particular job classification or arrangement of duties within any job classification at the Company.
Departmental Seniority Departmental seniority is defined as the length of employment within the employee’s current department. Department seniority shall accrue as of the first day of employment or transfer into a new department.
