Shift Allowances. (a) Straight Shifts (i) the ordinary hours for shift work will be worked continuously each shift (except for broken shifts and meal breaks) and shall not exceed 10 hours, inclusive of a meal break, in any shift; and (ii) the ordinary hours for shift work shall be rostered in accordance with (b) The following shift penalties shall be paid to Employees in respect of work performed during ordinary hours for shifts as defined below: Afternoon shift Finishing after the ordinary hours defined in clause 20 Ordinary Hours of Work and at or before midnight. 15% Night shift Finishing subsequent to midnight and at or before 8.00 am or any shift commencing at or after midnight and before 5.00 am. Rotating night shift with day or afternoon shift. 17.5% Non-rotating night shift: A shift system in which night shifts are worked which do not rotate or alternate with another shift so as to give the Employee at least one third of the Employee’s working time off night shift in each roster cycle. 30% Afternoon shift Finishing after the ordinary hours defined in clause 20 Ordinary Hours of Work and at or before midnight. 40% Night shift Finishing subsequent to midnight and at or before 8.00 am or any shift commencing at or after midnight and before 5.00 am. Rotating night shift with day or afternoon shift. 42.5% Non-rotating night shift: A shift system in which night shifts are worked which do not rotate or alternate with another shift so as to give the Employee at least one third of the Employee’s working time off night shift in each roster cycle. 55% (c) Where an Employee is paid a shift penalty the Employee is not entitled to be paid overtime in addition to the shift penalties. (d) The shift penalties are calculated on the unaveraged rate of pay.

Shift Allowances. 52.2.1 Straight Shifts General Employees can be rostered to work ordinary hours of work in a straight shift in accordance with the following provisions:
(a) Straight Shifts

(b) 52.2.2 The following shift penalties shall be paid to General Employees in respect of work performed during ordinary hours for shifts as defined below: Afternoon shift Finishing after the ordinary hours defined in clause 20 Ordinary Hours of Work and at or before midnight. 15% Night shift Finishing subsequent to midnight and at or before 8.00 am or any shift commencing at or after midnight and before 5.00 am. Rotating night shift with day or afternoon shift. 17.5% Non-rotating night shift: A shift system in which night shifts are worked which do not rotate or alternate with another shift so as to give the General Employee at least one third of the General Employee’s 's working time off night shift in each roster cycle. 30% Casual General Employees (percentage includes casual loading in clause 47.5) Definition of Shift Percentage Afternoon shift Finishing after the ordinary hours defined in clause 20 Ordinary Hours of Work and at or before midnight. 40% Night shift Finishing subsequent to midnight and at or before 8.00 am or any shift commencing at or after midnight and before 5.00 am. (c) 52.2.3 Where an a General Employee is paid a shift penalty the General Employee is not entitled to be paid overtime in addition to the shift penalties.

Shift Allowances. (a) Straight ShiftsDay shift - A shift finishing before 6pm. No allowance payable, unless the shift commenced between 4am and 5am, then an allowance shall be paid equivalent to 12.5% of the employees' rate of pay for 7.6 hours.
(b) Afternoon shift - A shift finishing between 6pm and Midnight. An allowance shall be paid equivalent to 12.5% of the employees' rate of pay for 7.6 hours.
(c) Night Shift - A Shift Finishing after Midnight or where the majority of hours worked fall between midnight and 8 am. For all time worked during ordinary working hours on such night shift an allowance shall be paid as follows:
(i) 30% of the ordinary hours for shift work will be worked continuously each shift (except for broken shifts and meal breaks) and shall not exceed 10 hoursemployees' rate of pay where: • during a period of engagement on shift, inclusive of a meal break, in any shift; and
(ii) the ordinary hours for shift work shall be rostered in accordance with

Rotating an employee works night shift with day only; or • an employee remains on night shift for a longer period than four consecutive weeks; or afternoon shift. 17.5% Non-rotating • an employee works on a night shift: A shift system in which night shifts are worked which do does not rotate or alternate with another shift or with day work so as to give the Employee employee at least one third of the Employee’s their working time off night shift in each roster shift cycle. 30.
(ii) An allowance equivalent to 15% Afternoon shift Finishing after of the ordinary hours defined in clause 20 Ordinary Hours employees’ rate of Work and at or before midnight. 40% Night shift Finishing subsequent to midnight and at or before 8.00 am or any shift commencing at or after midnight and before 5.00 am. Rotating pay for all other night shift with day or afternoon shift. 42.5% Non-rotating night shift: A shift system in which night shifts are worked which do not rotate or alternate with another shift so as to give the Employee at least one third of the Employee’s working time off night shift in each roster cycle. 55%
(c) Where an Employee is paid a shift penalty the Employee is not entitled to be paid overtime in addition to the shift penaltieswork.
(d) Saturdays and Sundays
(i) The rate at which a shift penalties worker will be paid for work performed between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday is 150%. The extra rate is in substitution for and not cumulative upon the shift allowances described above.
(ii) The rate a shift worker will be paid for work on a rostered shift on a Sunday at 200% or 250% if a public holiday. The extra rate is in substitution for and not cumulative upon the shift allowances described above.
(e) Loading for short term shift work
(i) Where an employee works an afternoon or night shift that does not continue for at least five successive afternoon or night shifts (where no more than eight ordinary hours are calculated worked on each shift) or works an afternoon or night shift that does not continue for at least 38 ordinary hours (where more than eight ordinary hours are worked on each shift), the unaveraged employee must be paid 150% of the ordinary hourly rate for the first three hours and 200% of paythe ordinary hourly rate after three hours.
