Shop Stewards Recognition. It is recognized that Shop Stewards may be elected or appointed by the Union from time to time and the Employer will be kept informed by the Union of such appointments or elections. The Employer agrees to recognize Shop Stewards and Alternate Shop Stewards for the purpose of overseeing the terms of the Collective Agreement being implemented and for the purpose of presenting complaints and Grievances to designated Management of the store. An Alternate Shop Xxxxxxx will be recognized on the site when the Shop Xxxxxxx is absent. The Union shall inform the Employer in writing of the name of the Alternate Shop Xxxxxxx.

If during any other private corrective interview with Management it is determined that there will be a discipline report on the employee's record, the interview may be temporarily suspended so that the employee may call in a Shop Xxxxxxx or witness of his or her choice. A copy of formal discipline report to be entered on an employee's file will be given to the employee. The employee will be required to sign Management's copy. Such signature will indicate receipt of formal reprimand only. Subject to giving the Co-operative advance notice, employees shall have access to their personnel file. No discipline older than twenty-four (24) months shall be used in disciplinary proceedings, unless there have been other disciplinary steps taken for a repeat offense in twenty-four (24) months following. This time period of twenty-four (24) months shall not include periods of lay-off, leave of absence or disciplinary suspensions. Notwithstanding the foregoing, cases involving violence in the workplace, harassment, bullying, and major safety violations may be used in any disciplinary proceedings without limitation. When a Shop Xxxxxxx is investigating a grievance or a complaint on Company time, the Xxxxxxx must first obtain permission from his/her immediate Supervisor or the Store Manager.
