Sick Leave Conversion. SECTION 1. At the time of formal retirement from active service with the Employer and with ten (10) or more years of prior service with the State or any political subdivision, an employee may elect to be paid in cash for twenty-five percent (25%) of his total unused accumulated paid sick leave. Such payment for sick leave on this basis shall be based on the employee’s rate of pay at the time of retirement. Payment for sick leave on this basis shall be considered to eliminate all sick leave credit accrued by the employee at that time. Such payment shall only be made once to any employee. The maximum payment shall not exceed thirty (30) days.
