Common use of Sick Leave Payment Clause in Contracts

Sick Leave Payment. Sick leave credits may only be used for illness (subject to 20.01) or in accordance with the Wellness Incentive Plan Letter of Agreement. In the event that an employee's absence exceeds their accumulated sick credits, the employee may borrow against future earned sick leave provided that a qualified medical practitioner certifies that the employee is seriously ill, that the nature of the illness is specified, and that the employee's request for leave is submitted in writing. The borrowed leave entitlement shall be limited to the amount of benefits that the employee would otherwise be entitled to under the Employment Insurance Act. In the event that an employee's absence exceeds this amount, the employee will be placed on leave of absence without pay for the duration of the illness or twelve
