Survivors Benefits. Benefits for the surviving family members of individuals who have died from COVID–19, including cash assistance to widows, widowers, or dependents of individuals who died of COVID–19.
Survivors Benefits. A survivor of a deceased retiree shall have the option of remaining a member of the benefits plan by paying in full for his/her single coverage.
Survivors Benefits. Effective July 1, 2003, the retirement benefits shall include Level IV of 1959 Survivor Benefits under Section 21382.4 of the California Government Code and Post-Retirement Survivor Allowance to Continue After Remarriage under Section 21266 of the California Government Code. The cost of this benefit will be paid by the employees. To the extent that the safety (Fire) employees’ surplus, held at PERS, is available to xxxxx the payment costs, then this cost will be made from such funds.

A. Employees in this unit who are members of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) will be covered under the Fifth Level of the 1959 Survivors’ Benefit, which provides a death benefit in the form of a monthly allowance to the eligible survivor in the event of death before retirement. This benefit will be payable to eligible survivors of current employees who are not covered by Social Security and whose death occurs on or after the effective date of the memorandum of understanding for this section.
B. The contribution for employees covered under this new level of benefits will be $2 per month. The rate of contribution for the State will be determined by the PERS board.
C. The survivors’ benefits are detailed in the following schedule:
1. A spouse who has care of two or more eligible children, or three or more eligible children not in the care of spouse $1,800
2. A spouse with one eligible child, or two eligible children not in the care of the spouse $1,500
3. One eligible child not in the care of the spouse; or the spouse, who had no eligible children at the time of the employee’s death, upon reaching age 62 $750

The cost of this benefit will be paid by the employees. To the extent that the miscellaneous employees’ surplus, held at PERS, is available to xxxxx the cost payment, then this cost will be paid from such funds. Any amount in excess of the 2001-2002 rate not covered by the surplus will be paid by the employees. The Fourth Level 1959 Survivor Benefit provides a monthly allowance to eligible survivors of members who are covered by this benefit program and die before retirement. The Post-Retirement Survivor Allowance consists of a monthly allowance that automatically continues to an eligible survivor following the retiree’s death regardless of the retirement option selected.
2. The Pre-Retirement Death Benefit Option 2 was implemented at no cost to the Employees.
Survivors Benefits. The County shall provide the Level 3 1959 Survivors Benefits, as defined in CalPERS Section 21382.2. Each employee shall contribute .93 cents per pay period as required by CalPERS regulations.

If the total cost of this program exceeds $4 per month per member, the employee and employer shall share equally the cost in excess of $4 per month. The rate of contribution for the State will be determined by the CalPERS board. The survivors' benefits are detailed in the following schedule:
1. A spouse who has care of two or more eligible children, or three or more eligible children not in the care of the spouse -- $1,800.
2. A spouse with one eligible child, or two eligible children not in the care of the spouse -- $1,500.
3. Upon reaching age 62, a spouse who had no eligible children at the time of the employee's death, or one eligible child not in the care of the spouse -- $750.

The surviving partner of a member killed in the line of duty shall be entitled to the major medical and dental coverage until age sixty-five (65) years, (unless this coverage becomes available through a subsequent marital relationship). The Board shall pay one hundred percent (100%) of these benefit premium costs to cover the surviving partner and dependents.

Survivors Benefits. 11.01 The surviving spouse and dependants of a civilian member killed in the line of duty shall be entitled to Health Plan coverage under Article 9.01, until the age sixty-five (65) years, (unless coverage becomes available through a subsequent marital relationship or other circumstances which provides benefits as close to entitlement as available). The Board shall pay one hundred percent (100%) of these benefit premium costs.
11.02 The surviving spouse and dependants of a serving civilian member or a retired civilian member of the Shelburne Police Service who dies shall be allowed to participate in the Health Plan under Article 9.01. Premiums shall be paid by the spouse.
