Teacher Preparation Days. Of the non-student contact days at the beginning of the school year, Teachers shall have two and one-half (2 ½ ) days (one (1) of which shall be the Flex Day) which are Teacher-directed. The Flex Day shall be noted on the District calendar and a Teacher may choose to work an alternate contract day on site prior to the beginning of the school year after collaborating with the principal or designee regarding the scheduling of such day. The other one and one-half (1 ½) days shall be District/Administrator-directed. Additionally, the first non-student contact day following winter break shall be Teacher- directed with the exception of up to three and one-half (3 ½) hours, which may be directed by the District or the administration of the school building with input from Teachers (which may include the building council, leadership team, and/or other methods of gathering input from Teachers) into the planning and use of these hours and with consideration given to differentiation. Notice of the use of the time shall be provided prior to the start of winter break. Every effort shall be made to have the Teacher-directed time provided in a single, uninterrupted block. These Teacher preparation days may include, but are not limited to, work associated with planning, assessment, curriculum, instruction, and other student needs as determined by the Teacher.

Teacher Preparation Days. Teachers shall receive no less than five non-student days for the purpose of long-term planning and regular assessment of students. Two of these days shall occur prior to the first student day of the school year, and the remaining three shall occur on the days following each of the first three grading periods.
Teacher Preparation Days. Administrators shall schedule activities during the four (4) pre-school days in such a manner as to provide the equivalent of one (1) day for training and/or site planning and two (2) half-days to be used primarily for individual preparation. These two half-days shall be free of all required meetings. The focus for the day of training/planning shall be related to the school improvement plan for that site unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent.
