Common use of Temporary Full-Time Clause in Contracts

Temporary Full-Time. A temporary full-time employee is someone who is engaged to perform a fixed term or task on a full-time basis. Such fixed terms or tasks will be greater than three (3) months in length, and will not normally exceed a twelve (12) month period, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing. At the end of the fixed term or task the employee shall revert to her/his former status. When an employee accepts such an assignment she/he shall not be considered for another temporary assignment if accepting such assignment will require her/him to leave her/his current assignment before the end of the fixed term or task. Such an employee is to be treated as a regular full-time employee for all purposes except insurance benefits for which the employee shall be treated as regular part-time. Notwithstanding the above, where the position is filled by an existing employee, the incumbent retains her/his previous “status” while filling the temporary position.
