Time Off For Bereavement. A Bargaining Unit member shall be entitled to time off for bereavement in accordance with University policy as currently in effect at the time of ratification of this Contract.

Time Off For Bereavement. A Bargaining Unit member shall receive straight time pay for each day lost during their normal work week, not exceeding five (5) days, to make arrangements for and attend the funeral of a member of their immediate family, which shall be charged to the member’s sick leave balance. At the discretion of the Director or designee, additional days may be granted upon a showing that circumstances require travel out of the surrounding area or a showing that an earlier return to work would create a hardship upon the member. Immediate family shall be defined as: spouse; domestic partner; mother; father; sister; brother; biological, adopted, or xxxxxx child; stepchild; legal xxxx; grandparent; grandchild; mother-in- law; father-in-law; sister-in-law; brother-in-law; daughter-in-law; son-in-law; grandparent-in- law; grandchild-in-law; or corresponding relatives of the employee's partner; other persons for whom the employee is legally responsible; and anyone who stood in loco parentis to the employee as a child. When using sick leave for the death of a domestic partner, a completed and notarized Affidavit of Domestic Partnership form must be on file with the Department and with the Office of Human Resources. Any days above the five (5) for which a bargaining unit member receives pay under the provisions of this Section shall be charged against such member’s sick leave, vacation, or compensatory time at the member’s option.

  • Bereavement A maximum of three (3) days earned sick leave may be used per occurrence for bereavement due to the death of persons in the immediate or extended family, as defined herein, or any relative who resided with the employee.

  • Time Off The company recognises that sufficient time off to attend to personal matters and for recreation are important to the employee’s wellbeing, job satisfaction and overall productivity. Accordingly, time off may be taken with the consent of the Company, which shall not be unreasonably withheld. In considering the approval to have time off, the Parties will have regard to the current works programme and the urgency of the reason for time off. In the event that time off is to be taken, it will be the employee’s obligation to advise the Company in advance or as soon as practicable on the day of absence, recognising that unplanned absences can cause costly disruption to programmed works and are a major source of annoyance for the company, other employees and clients. The object of offering flexible working hours is that in return employees will take very seriously their obligation to turn up when they are expected. In view of the disruption caused by unplanned and or notified absenteeism, repeated failure to observe the protocol for time off would constitute misconduct.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this clause, immediate family is defined as father, mother, (or alternatively stepfather, stepmother or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse, (including common-law spouse resident with the employee), child (including child of common-law spouse), stepchild or xxxx of the employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild and relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

  • Bereavement During Vacation Where an employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to a bereavement, the employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with Article 12.04. The portion of the employee's vacation which is deemed to be bereavement leave under the above provisions will not be counted against the employee's vacation credits.

  • Paid Bereavement Leave An employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave with pay as follows:

  • BEREAVEMENT PAY 22.01 The Employer agrees that in the event of a death in the immediate family, the Employer shall grant bereavement leave of three (3) consecutive calendar days with pay. This leave includes both working and non-working days.

  • ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE Upon the death of an employee’s spouse, (to include same sex partner), child or stepchild, mother, father, brother, sister, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) days without loss of pay, ending with the day following the day of the funeral. Upon the death of an employee’s step-parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, legal guardian, grandparent, xxxxxx child, grandchildren, son-in-law or daughter-in-law, the employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of three (3) days without loss of pay, ending with the day of the funeral. It is agreed that this leave is to apply only where the employee is in attendance at the funeral and pay for such days of absence is limited to the days actually missed from work as per the employee’s scheduled working days. If the funeral is not attended the paid leave shall be limited to two (2) days ending no later than the day of the funeral. In the event of a spring internment, an employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the internment. An employee shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave without loss of pay to attend the funeral of his or her aunt, uncle, niece or nephew. An employee will not be eligible to receive payment under the terms of Bereavement Leave for any period in which she is receiving payments for holiday pay or vacation pay. Note: It is understood that if an employee is on sick leave and attends the funeral that the bereavement leave will not be charged against sick leave accumulated. Where it is necessary because of distance, the employee may be provided up to seven (7) days additional unpaid leave. Xxxxxx Child being defined as a child residing with and in the care of the employee full time via the Children’s Aid Society.
