Tenure-Track. A tenure-track appointment is normally for a period of two years following the date on which an academic staff member is first appointed. It may thereafter be renewed annually. Tenure-track appointments shall be renewed when duties have been performed in a satisfactory manner and it is deemed that the academic staff member should be afforded opportunity to progress toward an appointment with tenure.
14.3.3.1 The period during which an academic staff member holds a tenure-track appointment is referred to as the probationary period.
Tenure-Track. 14.4.3.1 Tenure-track appointments may be renewed but no individual may serve more than five consecutive years in a probationary capacity. Not less than three months before a tenure- track appointment is to expire, the University shall inform the academic staff member whether it will let the present appointment lapse, renew the tenure-track appointment for another year, or grant the member an appointment with tenure.
14.4.3.2 After the first tenure-track appointment, no new special conditions shall be attached to subsequent renewals of an academic staff member’s tenure-track appointment, except those which relate to performance during the probationary period. In addition, existing conditions shall not be made more stringent.
14.4.3.3 Approved leaves of four months or more shall add the greater of one year or the length of the leave to the probationary period.
14.4.3.4 At the request of the academic staff member and with the concurrence of the University, the probationary period may be extended for two additional years to a total of seven years. The University’s concurrence shall not be withheld unreasonably. Reasons for denying such a request shall be communicated in writing to the member.
14.4.3.5 The conditions outlined in this Article (14.4.3) may be waived with the prior agreement of the Faculty Association.
Tenure-Track. New tenure-track faculty will be placed in the Assistant Professor column and in the appropriate row based upon minimum qualifications, attainment of a Doctorate, Master Craft or appointment in a High Demand discipline.
Tenure-Track. Tenure-Track appointments are continuing probationary appointments.
Tenure-Track. 1. A tenure track can be entered into for a specified maximum period of six years. This labour agreement can be consecutively extended once by a maximum period of three months.
2. The tenure track specifies: - How the track may be lead to a permanent labour agreement - The duration of the track - The assessment procedure and criteria - The consequences of a positive or negative assessment
3. The decision about whether or not the labour agreement will be made permanent will be taken well in advance, at least one year before the end of the agreed period.
4. If a labour agreement will terminate by operation law, the employer has a best-effort obligation to investigate whether the employee can be offered another position, within his organisation, that is suited to their personality and circumstances, with observance of the provision of article 9.5, paragraph 4 of this CAO (accommodating policy).
