Transfer to Lower Classification. In the event that an employee voluntarily transfers to a lower paid classification, the employee shall be placed on the same step of the new classification as they were in their previous classification. In the event that a position is downgraded under the comparable worth evaluation system to a lower paid classification, the employee would not lose salary, but would be frozen at current salary until the range catches up. No other aspect of the grade rating system is grievable under the terms of this contract.

Transfer to Lower Classification a. Voluntary: Employees voluntarily transferred to a lower classification shall be placed on the proper range and step as provided in Article 9.2 based on years of relevant experience, education and training. Prior to voluntary transfer, the employees shall be notified of the range and salary of the classification to which they will be assigned.

If a transfer of an employee to a classification carrying a lower salary rate is made, either at the request of such employee or as a result of a job posting, such employee shall be paid at a rate in its salary range of his new position consistent with service (i.e. Point to Point Step to Step 3).
