U nion Membership. The Union recognizes that no employee is required to join the Union, but that every employee has the right to choose of their own free will whether or not the employee will or will not join the Union.

U nion Membership. Membership in the Union on or after thirty (30) days following the beginning of employment, or the effective date of this Agreement, whichever is later, shall be a condition of employment to the extent consistent with the law. Under the law, employees have a choice to be "full members" or "dues payers" of the Union. No employee covered by this Agreement shall be required as a condition of employment to be a full member of the Union. Whether or not an employee chooses to become a full member or a dues payor of the Union is his or her voluntary choice, and both the Union and the Company shall respect such choice. After the thirty-first (31st) day of employment, an employee shall be required to pay an initiation fee and periodic Union dues as a condition of employment. If an employee chooses to be a full member of the Union, the amount of such initiation fee and dues shall be those uniformly assessed by the Union with respect to other full Union members in like classification and status. If an employee chooses to be a dues payor only, his only obligation shall be to pay pro rata initiation fees and dues which are directly related to Union expenses for collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance adjustment and other chargeable expenses as may be established by law.
