Union Leaves. (a) Short-term occasional Leaves The parties recognize that from time to time an employee may have to be released from regular duties to attend a union activity. Short-term occasional leaves will be granted provided the unit administrator: (i) receives timely notification, (ii) is satisfied that the employee has put arrangements in place that will ensure the absence will not have a negative effect on the adequacy of the learning experience or reduce the effectiveness of a probationary or qualifying period. When a qualified replacement is required, the Union will reimburse the unit for all of the replacement costs (salary and benefits).
