Therefore, employees covered by this Agreement are encouraged to take advantage of 19 opportunities available for continuing study and self-improvement. To this end it shall be a policy of 20 the Health Department where feasible and at the discretion of the Department Head to allow 21 employees covered by this Agreement time off with or without pay and with or without related 22 expenses to attend professional meetings and/or Association meetings and conferences which focus on 23 job-related practice.

Training Leaves. Upon written request and submittal by the Union of pertinent document to the Employer two days in advance, union shop stewards and those employees assigned by the Union are granted leave with pay to attend congress, conference, seminar, and meetings of the Managing, Auditing and Disciplinary Boards, the General and Representative Assemblies, cultural and social activities, for every calendar year as prescribed below: Number of Employees at Worksite Days of Leave with Pay per Annum At worksites employing 1-25 employees 10 At worksites employing 26-50 employees 20 At worksites employing 51-100 employees 30 At worksites employing 101-200 employees 40 At worksites employing 201-500 employees 60 At worksites employing 501-1000 employees 80 At worksites employing over 1001 employees 10% of the number of employees. Training leaves may be used in half-day increments; training leave up to four hours will be charged as a half day and over four hours will be charged as a full day. These leaves are not separate for each member but are for all. Use of training leave by over 5% of the workforce at one time is subject to the approval of the Employer. However, the 5% ratio is not sought for the General Assembly, unless precluded by a mission emergency as determined by the Employer.

  • Training Leave An employee appointed or elected as an accredited representative of the union shall, upon application in writing to the employer, be granted up to 5 days leave with pay each calendar year (non-cumulative) to attend appropriate courses: • Such courses shall be designed and structured with the objective of promoting good industrial relations within the building and construction industry. • Consultation may take place between the parties in the furtherance of this objective Accredited representative of the union shall mean a job xxxxxxx recognised by the employer. No. of days per year Up to l5 1 5 31-50 3 15 51-100 4 20 101 and over 5 25 The application for leave shall be given to the employer at least 6 weeks in advance of the commencement of the course. The application shall contain the following details: • The name of the employee seeking leave • The period of time for which the leave is sought (including dates and daily commencing and finishing times) and • The title, general description and structure of the course to be attended and the location of where the course is to be conducted. The employer shall advise the union within seven clear working days (Monday to Friday) of receiving the application as to whether or not the application for leave has been approved. The time of taking leave shall be arranged so as to minimise any adverse effect on the employer’s operations. The onus shall rest with the employer to demonstrate an inability to grant leave when an eligible employee is otherwise entitled. An employer shall not be liable for any additional expenses associated with an employee’s attendance at a course, other than the payment of ordinary time earnings for such absence. For the purposes of this clause ordinary time earnings shall be defined as the relevant award classification rate, shift work loadings plus over-award payments. Leave rights granted in accordance with this clause will not result in additional payment for alternative time off to the extent that the course coincides with an employee’s day off in the 19 day month work cycle. An employee on request by their employer shall provide proof of their attendance at any course within 7 days. If an employee fails to provide such proof the employer may deduct any amount already paid for attendance from the week’s pay or any monies due to the employee. Where an employee is sick during a period when leave under this provision has been granted proof of attendance at the course is not required for that period and the employee shall receive payment in accordance with personal leave provisions. Leave of absence granted in accordance with this clause shall count for all purposes of employment.

  • Union Training Leave 46.1 An Employee elected as Union Delegate shall, upon application in writing to the Employer, be granted up to five days paid leave each calendar year to attend relevant Union Delegate courses. Such courses shall be designed and structured with the objective of promoting good industrial relations within the building and construction industry.

  • Trade Union Training Leave (a) Subject to all qualifications in this clause, an employee appointed or elected as an accredited representative of the union to which he/she belongs will, upon application in writing to the Enterprise, be granted up to 5 days leave with pay each calendar year non-cumulative to attend courses conducted or approved by the Union.

  • Industrial Relations Training Leave 53.1 Union Delegate/Employee Representative shall have access to industrial relations training in accordance with Appendix E hereof.

  • Retraining Leave a. The University President, at her/his discretion, may grant a retraining leave to an employee for the purpose of acquiring new skills or enhancing existing skills for the benefit of the University.

  • Study Leave Credits for study leave will be given for educational commitments falling due between an employee's nominated starting and finishing times.

  • Professional Leaves 1. Professional Leaves are to be used by an employee to gain knowledge for the position contracted through Bath Local Schools. The employee must request Professional Leave through the employee kiosk. Upon approval, the employee may be permitted to attend the Professional Meeting and will be paid at the regular rate.

  • Sabbatical Leaves 49. Members taking their first Sabbatical Leave after a probationary period at The University of Western Ontario shall receive 90.0% of their Base Salary; Members taking their second or subsequent Sabbatical Leave from The University of Western Ontario shall receive 85.0% of their Base Salary.

  • Health Leave Any regular employee of the District may, at the discretion of the Board, be granted a leave of absence without pay for reasons of health, such leave to be specified for a period of not more than one year. Such leave may be extended in case of serious health conditions.

  • Military Training Leave An employee who has served with the State of Oregon or its counties, municipalities or other political subdivisions for six (6) months or more immediately preceding an application for military leave, and who is a member of the National Guard or of any reserve components of the armed forces of the United States is entitled to a leave of absence with pay for a period not exceeding fifteen (15) calendar days or eleven (11) workdays in any federal fiscal year. If the training time for which the employee is called to active duty is longer than fifteen (15) calendar days, the employee may be paid for the first eleven (11) days only if such time is served for the purpose of discharging an obligation of annual active duty for training in the military reserve or National Guard.
