Common use of Union Leaves Clause in Contracts

Union Leaves. 1. Upon request of the Union, the District shall grant a Union Leave of Absence to Union members, provided that a written notice is given at least fourteen (14) days in advance. Such Leaves of Absence shall be granted: 1.1 without pay; 1.2 without loss of seniority; 1.3 with eligibility to continue group benefits as contained in this Agreement, provided the employee maintains the premium cost; 1.4 with guarantee of reemployment to the job vacated or one of equal pay. 2. Such leaves shall be for a specific period of time which was agreeable to the parties. 3. The District’s obligation under this Article shall cease upon fifteen (15) days written notice to the Union should the terms of the Leave of Absence be violated by the member on such Leave of Absence. 4. The Union agrees that it shall not request that a Leave of Absence be granted for a period of time when such absence would seriously affect the operation of the District.
