Common use of Vacation Accrual and Use Clause in Contracts

Vacation Accrual and Use. employee shall be entitled to an annual paid vacation of three weeks per year. The full amount of vacation leave accrued per year is expected to be utilized within that 12-month period. In the event that the Department is unable to grant vacation requests for the full amount of vacation leave accrued within the year, the employee shall be allowed to carry over the ungranted portion to the next year. Vacation accrual shall be considered separate and apart from the one week of paid educational leave provided for in section 10.8 below. If an employee elects not to use his/hertheir full week of educational leave, the unused portion of that educational leave shall not be converted into, or treated as, vacation leave.
