Employees on layoffvoluntary reduction of work hours, working 32 hours per week or more, shall not have benefits reduced. Employees shall not reduce their work hours to less than 32 hours per week. Continuation of benefits shall be subject to the employee’s payment of any required premiums as arranged through Finance or Human Resources. Voluntary reduction of work hours shall not last longer than six (6) months per employee per calendar year, unless mutually agreed between the Prosecutor and employee.

Voluntary Layoff. Whenever 11.01 The parties recognize that a senior employee may desire to volunteer for a layoff, thus providing a more junior employee an opportunity to remain actively employed at work while the senior employee is laid off out of the plant.
11.02 When a reduction of personnel in the work force is necessary, senior employees may request to be laid off out of the following additional procedure plant in preference to more junior employees. The request shall be for a minimum of two (2) months, and shall specify an end date of not more than four (4) months. Approval of a request for voluntary layoff will be implemented at the discretion of the Vice President or General Manager.
11.03 Once the Vice President or General Manager has approved the voluntary layoff, it will be binding on the employee, unless extenuating circumstances arise prior to offer the effective date of the layoff.
11.04 If an employee, electing voluntary layoff, has less seniority personnel an opportunity than any employee affected by the normal layoff procedure outlined in the collective agreement, he shall revert to accept the normal layoff on procedure immediately.
11.05 An employee who takes a voluntary basislayoff will remain laid off out of the plant for the specified period, unless all other employees laid off out of the plant have been recalled to work. It is understood that during the specified period, such employee will be the last employee recalled to work.
11.06 During the voluntary layoff, an employee with the qualifications, skill, and ability shall be temporarily assigned to fill the voluntarily laid off employee’s position. At the conclusion of the employee’s voluntary layoff, he will return to his position, at which time the employee temporarily assigned to the position shall return to his original position. It is acknowledged and understood that this may result in further layoffs and the exercise of bumping rights under Article 13.
11.07 The number of participants employee on voluntary layoff shall not exceed the number of positions on layoff.

If enough volunteers are not obtained, then the option to take a voluntary layoff will be offered to other employees within the seniority unit, on the same shift, provided there are adequate qualified employees remaining to meet operational requirements without invoking the seniority provisions of this Agreement. Supervision may deny a voluntary layoff request based on skills needed to continue operations. Volunteers must be willing to remain on layoff for a minimum of twelve (12) calendar weeks and are subject to recall as needed for full-time assignments. Recalls will be in reverse order of seniority, except that employees who have notified the Company seniority office of their desire to be recalled, will be recalled in accordance with their seniority. Employees on voluntary layoff are subject to the recall provisions concerning notification and reporting to work contained in Section 9(B) of this Article. Employees on voluntary layoff will be called for any temporary assignments in seniority order, but refusing a temporary assignment will not impact the employees layoff status.
