When Holiday Falls on Saturday or Sunday. If the prescribed holiday falls on a Saturday, the previous Friday, not itself a holiday, is the holiday; if it falls on Sunday, the following Monday, not itself a holiday, shall be the holiday. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the District and Union can agree to an arrangement, for a given holiday, other than that prescribed herein. An employee terminated the day before a holiday does not qualify for holiday pay.

The Union Business Representative may agree with the administration to change the day being observed for a particular employee, building, or classification.

  • on Saturday 3 From 1 January 2016, the allowance for working irregular hours referred to in Article 4.7.3 shall also be paid during holidays. The employer shall determine an average amount for this payment on the basis of the allowances paid in the twelve calendar months preceding the month in which the employee takes holidays.
