Summer Field Trips. 1. Two (2) weeks to at least one (1) week prior to the end of the school year, a sign- up sheet shall be posted and available for the drivers to sign to show interest in performing field trips.
2. Assignments for field trip(s) during the summer break shall be assigned per seniority, and driver availability by the supervisor or designee. The calls will be made on Thursday starting at 8:45 a.m. and cover the trips for a one-week period. Drivers will provide the office with one (1) phone number where they may be reached. Drivers are responsible for keeping this phone information up to date, in writing.
Summer Field Trips. Summer field trips, when school is not in regular session, shall be assigned to drivers and Transportation Assistants on the basis of classification seniority. The sign-up list posted at the end of May shall be used until the first driving day of the next school year for summer extra trips.
Summer Field Trips. Before the school year ends, the Supervisor will post a list of all drivers by seniority. Drivers will indicate their availability for field trips and fill out contact information. Trips will be posted on Monday for the following week. The drivers are responsible each Monday for signing any trips that they are available to drive. The Supervisor will call drivers on Tuesday and award trips. If there are emergency trips that were jot posted on Monday, the Supervisor will call the next driver on the rotation until the trip is filled. Drivers may sign or not sign trips at their discretion, without penalty.
Summer Field Trips a. Regular drivers will have the opportunity to sign up for summer field trips on two lists, (Monday – Friday and Saturday – Sunday and holidays). Eligible drivers must sign up for summer field trips by June 1st of each school year. If a regular driver is working for the district in other than bus driver or bus aide capacities, they may not take time off from their District job in order to do a field trip. Any driver who wants to withdraw from the list for the remainder of the summer must notify the processor in writing. The driver will not actually be given a trip(s), but will be charged for the trip(s) she/he would have been given.
b. The summer field trip period shall begin the first day of summer recess and end the last day of the recess period.
c. Monday through Friday summer field trips will be equalized by processing them trip by trip. The hours to be equalized will be based on the hours paid, not the actual hours worked. At the beginning of each summer, hours will revert to zero. The equalization process will begin after one complete rotation through the list of eligible drivers in seniority order. Saturday, Sunday and holiday summer field trips will be arranged highest to lowest hours and will be rotated through the list of eligible drivers in seniority order. This Saturday, Sunday and holiday summer field trip rotation will continue year to year.
d. Drivers will be called on Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Processors will be available until 10:00 a.m. Trips not assigned by 10:00 a.m. will be deemed emergency field trips. Drivers and drivers who work as bus aides on a FPS summer run who are scheduled to work on Thursday during this time frame will not be called but will be assigned a field trip. The field trip will be placed on their hook. This includes drivers/bus aides released from their assignment for school business on Thursday during this time period. It is the driver’s responsibility to check her/his hooks for any trips placed there.
e. If the driver is not home when called it will serve as a refusal and the driver will receive an “R” for her/his turn. The driver, not a family member, must accept the assignment.
f. In the event that the driver knows in advance that she/he will not be available on Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to receive the call, is out of town or on vacation, she/he may indicate in writing her/his availability for field trips for the following week or may call the Transportation office between the hou...
Summer Field Trips a. Any driver, who does not wish to be called for summer field trips, shall indicate this fact to the Transportation Supervisor, in writing.
b. The trip lists shall continue in rotation during the summer.
c. Trips for the summer will be bid out every Tuesday morning. This will be for trips from Thursday through the following Wednesday.
d. The Transportation Supervisor or designee will start calling between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. If there is no answer, the driver will be marked as a “no” and the caller will continue down the rotation list. Maintenance bus drivers will call the Transportation Supervisor or designee Tuesday morning between 7:00 and 7:05 a.m. to see what trips are available to them.
Summer Field Trips. Drivers are to indicate to the Transportation Manager their interest in driving summer field trips. Assignments will be on a rotational basis and shall be paid in the pay period earned.
Summer Field Trips i. Bus drivers awarded a field trip during the summer recess are responsible for performing all necessary duties for that trip or for securing another contracted driver for the trip.
ii. Bus drivers unable to drive a summer field trip and to secure a substitute driver shall immediately contact the Superintendent or designee. The bus driver will be rotated to the bottom of the seniority list as if he had driven the trip.
iii. A bus driver who reports to the bus garage for a summer field trip which has been cancelled shall receive two hours of pay if that bus driver was not notified of the trip cancellation.
Summer Field Trips. Summer field trips shall all be posted at one time on a summer bid board and selected by seniority. There shall be no limit to the number of summer field trips a driver can select up to 40 hours per week unless authorized.

1. Seniority in classification (as defined in Article 10)
2. Hours
3. Trips may not conflict with existing routes
4. Drivers are to prioritize their bidding e.g., number the most desired trip #1, the second most desired trip #2, etc. When an Employee signs their name on the bid sheet, it shall be their responsibility to prioritized by numbering said choices.
5. For any chance at a last-minute trip, Employees need to sign up on the availability list each bid week.
