Public Realm definition

Public Realm means any publicly owned streets, pathways, sidewalks, parks, publicly accessible open spaces and any public and civic building and facilities where the public has access. [2015-02]
Public Realm means places and or spaces that are shared by the public. This includes all public places, open spaces and streetscapes.
Public Realm means any publicly owned streets, roadways, sidewalks, parks, plazas, and other open spaces that comprise the shared space of a city for its visitors, employees and residents. It is the space between buildings where civic interaction occurs and is defined in contrast to private property.

More Definitions of Public Realm

Public Realm means municipally-owned public space and non-municipally-owned public spaces;
Public Realm means all external areas of the city (on public or private land) to which the public has regular access. This includes, for example, sidewalks, squares, plazas, as well as +15 bridges, walkways and associated outdoor spaces (Urban Design Framework, City of Calgary, 2011).

Public Realm means the 1,035sqm GIA linked series of new public spaces together with paving, benches, trees and street furniture to be created at ground level on the Site comprising the following: (i) “King’s Head Square” – shown coloured XX and situated on the western side of the Site next to the new underground station entrance; (ii) “New Yard” - shown coloured XX and situated along the northern side of the base of the Tower; (iii) “St ▇▇▇▇▇▇ Street Square” – shown coloured XX and situated between the base of the Tower and St ▇▇▇▇▇▇ Street; (iv) “East Yard” – shown coloured XX and situated on the eastern side of the Tower; (v) “Georgian Passage” - shown coloured XX and situated as a passageway running through the middle of the Georgian Terrace; and together all five spaces are shown on the drawing annexed hereto and labelled XX at Annex X; “Public Realm Specification” means a detailed specification to be submitted by the Developer to the Council for approval in respect of the Public Realm and which shall include as a minimum:- detailed and scaled plans and drawings; a full specification of the works and samples of proposed materials; details of the phasing and timing for delivery; and any other details as may be reasonably required by the Council; “Public Space” means the Public Realm, Reception, Roof Gardens and the Roof Gardens Access; “Reception” means the XX sqm GIA section of the ground floor reception in the Tower which shall be available for free to the public and is shown coloured XX on the drawing annexed hereto and labelled XX at Annex X; “Reception Management Plan” means a detailed management plan to be submitted by the Developer to the Council for its approval in writing (as local planning and highway authority) in respect of the Reception and which shall include as a minimum:- (i) details of the phasing and timing for delivery; (ii) a strategy for providing, maintaining and cleaning the Reception to ensure it is well maintained; (iii) the access arrangements which shall be between the hours of XX – XX 364 days a year except when the Reception may be closed in accordance with any of the reasons set out in Paragraphs 1.3 – 1.6 of Part Two of Schedule Three; (iv) the facilities available for use free of charge by the public which shall include seating, toilet facilities, WI-FI and power sockets; and (v) any other details as may be required by the Council.
Public Realm means publicly-accessible streets, pathways, sidewalks, parks and open spaces which should be enhanced where possible by various improvements such as trees, landscaping, benches, decorative lighting, and public art.
Public Realm means that part of the Development forming public realm which comprises the Broad Seaward Park, the Narrow Seaward Park, the Landward Urban Park, and the Landward Ecological Park shown shaded blue on Plan 7.
Public Realm means places, spaces and amenities that are publicly accessible, including but not limited to: areas beneath elevated guideways, squares, plazas, trails, parks, pedestrian clearways, landscaped areas, open spaces, waterfronts, conservation areas, and civic buildings and institutions, but excludes: Right of Way and 1-foot reserves, areas located on and within station boundaries and Program Assets. “Program Assets” means the infrastructure and assets pertaining to the Subway Program and owned by the Province or its agent, Metrolinx, including but not limited to subway tunnels, new track, signaling, rolling stock, maintenance facilities, storage facilities, traction power sub-stations and stations, but excludes rolling stock for the Scarborough Subway Extension and the Yonge North Subway Extension. “Proponent” means a bidder in a procurement process by the Province or one or more of its agencies pertaining to a Project. “Required Permits” means all permits, licences and approvals of general application required by the City and third parties to design and construct the Connections, City Infrastructure Work and Additional Infrastructure work, including without limitation, building permits. “Right of Way” means a common and public highway, street, sidewalk, avenue, parkway, driveway, bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is intended for or used by the general public for the passage of vehicles and includes the area between the lateral property lines thereof. “Subway Main Agreement” means an umbrella agreement for the Subway Program to be negotiated between the City, the TTC and Metrolinx, based on the terms of this Term Sheet. “Subway Program” means cumulatively, the four Projects. “Subway Real Estate Protocol” means the General Terms and Conditions for Real Estate Protocol for Property Acquisitions and Dispositions Related to Subway Projects in the City of Toronto, dated June 16, 2022, executed between the City, TTC and Metrolinx in respect of the Subway Program, attached hereto as Attachment 1 and as amended from time to time. “Subway Resourcing Agreements” means both the agreement between the City of Toronto and Metrolinx and the agreement between the TTC and Metrolinx that set out the terms and conditions for reimbursement to the City and TTC of staffing costs to support the delivery of the Subway Program, dated July 19, 2022, and October 6, 2022, respectively. “Third Party Scope Request Process” means Metrolinx’s standardized process of initiating, ...
