A Relief Teacher shall be employed as required to relieve a teacher absent from duty or to meet a short-term staffing need in line with operational requirements and must be employed for a minimum engagement of four (4) hours to a maximum of nineteen (19) consecutive working days at the same school.
Employees may be engaged on either a full-time or part-time basis or as a Relief Teacher.
A Casual Relief Teacher must be a registered Teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
A Casual Relief Teacher must be paid for school recess periods which fall during their hours of engagement.
Where the School has given notice of termination to a Teacher (other than a Relief Teacher) they must be allowed up to one day's time off without loss of pay for the purpose of seeking other employment.
