Surplus Leave of Absence definition

Surplus Leave of Absence means a leave of absence granted to a teacher who is taking a part-time leave for the subsequent school year in order to remain at his/her school when he/she has been determined to be partially surplus to his/her school. It is further understood that the teacher shall remain on that school list with his/her full entitlement for the subsequent school year’s staffing process subject to surplus/redundancy.

Examples of Surplus Leave of Absence in a sentence

  • An eligible employee (including an employee returning from a Surplus Leave of Absence) who, because of a force surplus adjustment, is assigned to a position where the rate of pay for the new position is less than the surplus employee’s former rate of pay in the Sur- plus Work Group will, upon reporting to the new position, receive a payout in accordance with the following table: (Effective January 1, 2019.

  • An eligible employee (including an employee returning from a Surplus Leave of Absence) who, because of a force surplus adjustment, is assigned to a position where the rate of pay for the new position is less than the surplus employee’s former rate of pay in the Sur- plus Work Group will, upon reporting to the new position, receive a payout in accordance with the following table: (Effective January 1, 2015.

Related to Surplus Leave of Absence

  • Leave of Absence means absent from work with permission.

  • Approved Leave of Absence means a leave of absence that has been approved by the applicable Participating Company in such a manner as the Board may determine from time to time.

  • Leave of absence with pay means to be absent from duty with permission and with pay.

  • FMLA Leave means a leave of absence, which the Company is required to extend to an Employee under the provisions of the FMLA.

  • maternity leave means a period during which a woman is absent from work because she is pregnant or has given birth to a child, and at the end of which she has a right to return to work either under the terms of her contract of employment or under Part 8 of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • Leave of Absence Without Pay means to be absent from duty with permission but without pay.

  • parental bereavement leave means leave under section 80EA of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • paternity leave means a period of absence from work on leave by virtue of section 80A or 80B of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • Paid sick leave – means paid leave under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act.

  • Sick Leave means the period of time an employee is absent from work with or without pay, by virtue of sickness, quarantine, or accident, or out-of-town medical/dental referrals for which compensation is not payable under the Worker's Compensation Act.

  • Leave means authorized absence from duty by an employee during his or her regular or normal hours of work;

  • Period of Service means the aggregate of all periods of service commencing with an Employee's first day of employment or reemployment with the Employer or an Affiliated Employer and ending on the first day of a Period of Severance, or for benefit accrual purposes, ending on the severance from service date. The first day of employment or reemployment is the first day the Employee performs an Hour of Service. An Employee who incurs a Period of Severance of twelve (12) months or less will also receive service-spanning credit by treating any such period as a Period of Service for purposes of eligibility and vesting (but not benefit accrual). For purposes of benefit accrual, a Participant's whole year Periods of Service is equal to the sum of all full and partial periods of service, whether or not such service is continuous or contiguous, expressed in the number of whole years represented by such sum. For this purpose, fractional periods of a year will be expressed in terms of days.

  • Annual leave and Clause 6.3 “Personal (Sick) Leave” of this Agreement.

  • Leave Year means the period during which the Agency Worker accrues and may take statutory leave commencing on the date that the Agency Worker starts an Assignment or a series of Assignments;

  • Excused absence means an absence from school that is authorized by the local school administrator or local school corporation rule.

  • FMLA means the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, as amended.

  • Period of Severance means a continuous period of time during which an Employee is not employed by the Employer. Such period begins on the date the Employee retires, quits or is discharged, or if earlier, the twelve (12) month anniversary of the date on which the Employee was otherwise first absent from service.

  • income-related employment and support allowance means an income-related allowance under Part 1 of the Welfare Reform Act 2007;

  • Current Sick Leave means those days of sick leave for the current contract year, which leave is granted at the rate of one day of sick leave per month worked, or major part thereof.
