Common use of Accumulation of Vacation Credits Clause in Contracts

Accumulation of Vacation Credits. (a) The maximum accumulation of vacation credits may not exceed forty-eight (48) days (384 hours) as of July1st of each year. In addition, the maximum accumulation of vacation which is paid upon termination shall be limited to forty- eight (48) days (384 hours). Any excess vacation accumulated as of any July 1st or upon termination shall be lost. The employee will make every reasonable effort to schedule time off to avoid exceeding the maximum accrued amount. However, no payments shall be made for vacation time lost by an employee because of accrual limitations, unless the failure to take vacation is caused by the County’s insistence that the employee be at work during a scheduled vacation period.
