Common use of Acquisition of Seniority Clause in Contracts

Acquisition of Seniority. The seniority of a regular employee who shall have completed six (6) months full- time employment shall be determined by the length of his service computed from the first day of his last hire as a full-time employee. Employees having less than six (6) months’ service with the Company shall be considered as having no seniority. After six (6) months’ service, the employee’s seniority shall be calculated from the date of his employment in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. Employees who are hired for specific temporary jobs shall have no seniority regardless of the length of service, unless said employees are transferred to the regular work force. In this event, seniority shall be calculated from the date of his assignment to fill a vacancy in a regular job and the usual six (6) months’ probationary period may then be required by the Company.
