Additional wash-up time shall be granted on an as needed basis. ADDITIONAL OR LONGER WASH-UP PERIODS. Mailhandlers who perform dirty work or work with toxic material will be granted wash-up time as necessary, not to exceed five minutes, before lunch break, and at the end of their tour of duty. A reasonable amount of wash-up time shall be granted to Mailhandlers whose immediate work situation necessitates it; i.e.; greasy hands (resulting from mail processing machine adjustment or minor repairs; liquids spilling from damaged parcels, sacks, etc.
ADDITIONAL OR LONGER WASH-UP PERIODS. As a matter of health, safety and reasonable cooperation, a reasonable amount of wash up time [at least 5 minutes] shall be granted to all employees who work with dirty and/or toxic material prior to each employee’s lunch time and end of work on each service day.
ADDITIONAL OR LONGER WASH-UP PERIODS. All clerks working eight (8) hours or more per day will be allowed the necessary time for wash-up prior to lunch and before the end of their tour.
ADDITIONAL OR LONGER WASH-UP PERIODS. It is the position of the U.S. Postal Service that those employees in the Letter Carrier craft that perform dirty work or work with toxic materials should be granted such time as is reasonable and necessary for washing up. This is to include the period prior to his/her lunch break. When requested by the employee and approved by the route examiner, reasonable and necessary time to wash-up will not be deducted from street time during the week of inspection except when the need was the result of an unusual situation.

The parties to this agreement recognize that within certain of the occupational groups employees are engaged in work which can be identified as dirty or toxic work. In view of the above, it will be incumbent upon the individual supervisor in the unit or section concerned to grant reasonable wash-up time to employees consistent with their day to day assignment and in accordance with past practice.
