Common use of Adoptive Leave Clause in Contracts

Adoptive Leave. A leave of absence of up to one (1) year shall be granted by the Board for adoptive purposes. A maximum of five (5) days with pay shall be provided for such leave. The remainder of the leave shall be without pay, except the teacher may elect to have an additional fifteen (15) days of the leave with pay provided the teacher authorizes the deduction of the additional fifteen (15) paid days from the teacher’s accumulated illness leave. Adoptive leave cannot be taken in conjunction with teaching summer school or intersession.

Adoptive Leave. A The Board shall grant a leave of absence of without pay for up to one (1) year shall to a teacher employed full-time on a Regular Teacher’s Contract for the purpose of adopting a child. For a teacher adopting a preschool child, either the mother or the father will be granted by allowed to use up to twenty (20) sick leave days within the year of adoption for the nurturing of the new family member. Upon return of a teacher from the leave provided for in this section to employment with the Board, the Board for adoptive purposes. A maximum of five (5) days with pay shall be provided for such leave.
