Associate Librarian. In order to be considered for appointment or promotion to the rank of Associate Librarian the candidate must have a record of successful performance as an Assistant Librarian exercising independent judgment and creativity, i.e. must have demonstrated continuing significant achievement at the career level of librarianship. The candidate should have a record of: Advanced study and research in library and information science and/or in an appropriate subject specialization, or relevant experience judged to be of equal value; evidence of continuing scholarly contributions in the form of publications and/or presentations. Evidence of broad professional concern and achievement as well as consistent service to the library and University, or service to the community, where the individual has made an essentially nonremunerative contribution by virtue of special professional/academic competence. This participation or service may be demonstrated by: significant service to the library and the University through participation in library and University policy-making and planning bodies, committees, task forces, etc.; substantial involvement in professional activities and participation in professional organizations.

Associate Librarian. A master's degree in library science, information science, or information studies from an accredited ALA institution or an equivalent graduate degree acceptable to recommending authorities in an area specifically related to library functions and an additional equivalent graduate degree in a field appropriate to library functions which is acceptable to recommending authorities; research or scholarly achievement as demonstrated by a publication record in recognized professional and/or academic journals, and/or recognition by learned societies or professional library associations for demonstrated leadership or achievements; and six years of successful, full-time professional library experience in a college, university or research library with at least two years of such experience at the rank of Assistant Librarian or higher;
Associate Librarian. Librarian who has earned a minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited institution, and a minimum of three (3) years’ full-time work experience as a Librarian, plus a minimum of two (2) years’ full-time work experience at TCC as an Assistant Librarian. All prior evaluations from TCC must be the equivalent of satisfactory or better or meets requirements.
Associate Librarian. The criteria for the rank of Associate Librarian in addition to the prerequisites for Assistant Librarian are normally three (3) years or more of professional library service and demonstrated excellent in professional responsibilities and service to the University, the profession, or the community.
Associate Librarian m. the degree of Master of Library Science (MLS) or an equivalent Master’s degree, including the degree of Master of Library Science and Information Science (MLSIS), from, in all cases, an institution accredited to grant such degrees by the American Library Association;
Associate Librarian. Ordinarily, the minimum requirement is a master’s degree in library science and acceptable professional experience of at least eight (8) years or a second graduate degree and six (6) years of successful full-time experience in a collegiate library.
Associate Librarian. The rank of Associate Librarian applies to Librarian Faculty who have held the rank of Assistant Librarian (or an equivalent role at another institution) for a minimum of 5 years and demonstrated continuing professional growth. This includes consistently satisfactory or higher annual performance reviews (e.g., “Achieving” under ratings in place on the effective date of this Agreement, or comparable performance at another institution) for the 5 successive years prior to applying for the Associate Librarian rank. Associate Librarians must demonstrate increasing initiative, creativity, and leadership in carrying out job responsibilities within their department and within NUL as a whole, consistently superior performance of job responsibilities, and the ability to operate independently within the sphere of specific job assignment(s) as well as part of a team in pursuing NUL strategic goals. Associate Librarians must have a record of demonstrated professional accomplishments, including at least one significant contribution as set forth in Section 3(B)(2) of this Article and at least two other notable contributions as set forth in Section 3(B)(2) or 3(B)(3).

Typically, a 3-unit course. Not required for students who transfer in 30+ units. Writing 1: The Art & Craft of Writing Any first-semester composition course. Often titled "Freshman Composition," "College Composition," or "Reading and Composition." Must include basic research skills and a research paper. Writing 2: Genre, Evidence, & Persuasion Courses titled "Critical Thinking," "Advanced Composition," etc., that follow a basic freshman level writing course. These courses involve the use of logic, critical thinking, rhetoric, and advanced composition. In addition, genre-specific writing courses will introduce students to the genres of writing, rhetorical moves, and forms of evidence in a specific discipline. Cannot be taken as a hybrid course. Personal Wellness Any physical activity course with a cardio component and instruction in fitness principles. This includes individual activities, team sports, dance, yoga/mat exercise courses, and intercollegiate sports. Activities with limited physical activity such as badminton, golf, bowling, etc. will not fulfill the requirement. Quantitative Literacy Any course from the Math department of the transferring school that has a prerequisite of Intermediate Algebra. However, certain majors require College Algebra. Please refer to the APU catalog to determine whether or not your major requires College Algebra. In addition, Statistics and Applied Statistics courses (e.g. "Statistics for Behavioral Sciences") with an Intermediate Algebra prerequisite will meet this requirement. Biblical, Theological, & Philosophical Formation- Philosophy Requirement Must be a broad philosophy course such as Intro to Philosophy, History of Philosophy, philosophy-based Logic, Critical Thinking, and Ethics. All other courses must be evaluated by the Department of Theology & Philosophy for transfer. Humanities- History, Literature, & Fine Arts Requirement Must choose one course from each discipline (3 courses total): History, Literature, and Fine Arts. History courses must be survey courses in world, western, or U.S. history (typically split into two time periods). Literature courses must be broad, surveys of literature that explore the literary genres of fiction, drama, and poetry. Fine Arts courses must be broad, survey courses in Art, Music, Drama, or Theater (sometimes History of Cinema, Drama, or Theater courses) covering approximately 100 years. These must be lecture courses and not studio or applied courses such as drawing, painting, singing, piano, etc. Examples of acceptable courses from these categories include (but not limited to) World Civilizations to 1648, Intro to Literature, Art History, Music Fundamentals, etc. Social Sciences One course from the following disciplines: Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Anthropology, Communication Studies, or Political Science. Examples of courses include (but not limited to) Intro to Sociology, General Psychology, Intro to Criminal Justice, Cultural Anthropology, Mass Media, etc. Natural Sciences One course: lecture and lab component required. Any basic course in the life or physical sciences. Examples of courses include Fundamentals of Biology, General Biology, Fundamentals of Chemistry, General Chemistry, Introduction to Astronomy, Physical Geology/Geography, Fundamentals of Physics, General Physics, Oceanography, Zoology, Marine Biology. Biology and Chemistry labs cannot be taken online. However, certain majors require specific science courses. Please refer to the APU catalog to determine whether or not your major requires specific science courses.
