Common use of Authorized Leaves Clause in Contracts

Authorized Leaves. Since the absence of a teacher generally has an adverse affect on the quality of the educational program, imposes increased responsibilities on other employees, and increases costs, it is the responsibility of each teacher to avoid unnecessary absence. The provisions herein set forth are not intended to reduce the responsibilities of a teacher or to provide a form of additional compensation. Rather, the provisions are intended to meet the legitimate, humanitarian and personal needs of a teacher in a manner consistent with the requirements of the educational program and they shall be so applied and interpreted.
