Averaging of ordinary hours of work. (1) Where agreed between the employer and employee, and subject to policy requirements, mechanisms will operate by which employees can agree to average ordinary hours of work over a cycle with differential daily and weekly hours, e.g. in a four week work cycle an employee may work 45 hours in one week and 30 hours the next week, provided that the total standard ordinary hours for the month are worked. Under this arrangement the agreed working hours for individual employees would be established in consultation between management and the employee. Normal overtime arrangements/penalty rates will only apply for the hours worked in excess of the agreed hours of duty.
