Daily and Weekly Hours. The standard daily and weekly hours shall be deemed to be those found in Schedule “A” of the Collective Agreement or, if the Employee is on a compressed work week, the daily and weekly hours shall be in accordance with the rules of the applicable compressed work week. An employee’s eating period shall be scheduled such that the employee does not work more than five (5) consecutive hours without an unpaid eating period. This is not applicable where there is an agreement between the Employer and the Union for the employee(s) to work through their eating period.

Daily and Weekly Hours. Except as hereafter provided, the normal hours of work will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. consisting of seven hours per day or 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, exclusive of meal periods. Alternate schedules may be arranged which commence no earlier than 7:00 a.m. and finish no later than 7:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. All work schedules will be based on these hours and must be designed to meet operational requirements and to provide efficient service to the public.

On a day where an employee works:
(a) Between four (4) and six (6) hours, these hours of work are inclusive of one (1) ten (10) minute paid rest period where operationally feasible; or
(b) More than six (6) hours, these hours of work are inclusive of one (1) ten (10) minute paid rest period; or
(c) Seven (7), seven and one-half (7½), or eight (8) continuous hours of work in a manner consistent with 11.1.A, these hours of work are inclusive of two (2) ten (10) minute paid rest periods. This is not applicable where there is an agreement between the Employer and the Union for an employee(s) to work through their eating or rest periods.
Daily and Weekly Hours a) The scheduled work week for full-time employees shall be thirty-five (35) hours from Monday to Friday inclusive. The scheduled work day for full-time employees shall be seven (7) consecutive hours, exclusive of a one (1) hour lunch period, between the hours of seven thirty (7:30 a.m.) and five thirty (5:30 p.m.). The Employer will consult with employees on an individual basis and, subject to operational requirements of the service, establish a mutually agreed upon schedule of hours of work for each employee.
b) When the Employer requires a change in the scheduled hours of work, the Employer will consult with the Union prior to the implementation of any change and, in such consultation, will establish that such hours are required to meet the efficient operation of CBIE.
Daily and Weekly Hours of Work (Full-time and Part-time) The normal hours of work for Full-time employees covered by this agreement shall be as follows: thirty-seven-and-a-half (37 hours per week, exclusive of meal periods, averaged over a period of seventy-five (75) hours For Part-time and casual employees, the regular shift shall not normally exceed seven and one-half (7 hours, exclusive of the meal period. It is understoodthat this Article shall not be construed to be a guarantee as to the hours of work per day nor as to the hours of work per week as for any period whatsoever nor as a guarantee of working schedules The normal hours of work presently in effect shall remain in effect for the term of this agreement. It is understood normal hours include those required to accommodate the change from Daylight Saving Time and vice versa to which the other provisions of the Articles dealing with Hours of Work and Overtime do not apply. It is further understood that the amount of regular pay for full normal hours worked in consequence of such change from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time and vice versa. The provisions of this Article are intended only to provide a basis for calculating time worked and shall not constitute a guarantee of hours of work per shift or per week or for any period whatsoever, nor a guarantee of working schedules. Rest Periods (Full-time and Part-time)

Positions not previously posted as in Clause above and filled by Temporary Full-Time Employees will be examined at the end of six (6) months to determine if continuance is indicated, in which case the position will be posted in the usual way. When an employee is promoted to a Regular Full-Time or a Regular Part-Time position they will receive the minimum of the new pay grade or one (1) step above their current rate if the new pay grade overlaps with the old. SCHEDULE Page Where ranges exist, eligibility for advancement from one (1) step to the next (increment) shall be based on the completion of the equivalent number of hours as a full-time employee occupying a 35-hour per week position.
