– HOURS OF WORK & SCHEDULING. 15.01 The normal hours of work for an employee are not a guarantee of work per day or per week, or a guarantee of days of work per week. The normal hours of work shall be seven and one-half (7½) hours per day, and seventy-five (75) hours in any bi-weekly period.
15.02 The normal daily shift shall consist of seven and one-half (7½) consecutive hours, exclusive of a one-half (½) hour unpaid meal period. Employees shall be entitled to a fifteen (15) minute paid break during each half of the normal daily shift, at a time designated by the Employer.
15.03 Employees required for reporting purposes shall remain at work for a period of up to fifteen (15) minutes which shall be unpaid. Should the reporting time extend beyond fifteen (15) minutes however, the entire period shall be considered overtime for the purposes of payment.
15.04 Requests for change in posted work schedules must be submitted in writing and co-signed by the employee willing to exchange days off or shifts and are subject to the discretion of the Administrator or her designate. In any event, it is understood that such a change initiated by the employee and approved by the Employer shall not result in overtime compensation or payment or any other claims on the Employer by any employee under the terms of this Agreement.
15.05 Where there is a change to Daylight Savings from Standard Time or vice-versa, an employee who is scheduled and works a full shift shall be paid for a seven and one-half (7½) hour shift rather than the actual hours worked.
15.06 In the event that a meal period is interrupted requiring an employee to attend to a work related problem, then the balance of the unused meal period will be taken within two (2) hours of the interruption. If the employee is unable to reschedule such time, she shall be paid time and one-half (1½) her regular straight time hourly rate for all time worked in excess of her normal daily hours, in accordance with Article 16.01.

– HOURS OF WORK & SCHEDULING. 15.01 The following provision designating regular hours on a daily tour and regular daily tours over the work schedule determined by the Employer shall not be construed to be a guarantee of the hours of work to be performed on each tour or during each tour schedule.
(a) The normal daily tour shall be seven and one-half (7½) consecutive hours, exclusive of an unpaid one-half (½) hour meal period.
(b) Employees shall be entitled to relief periods during the tour on the basis of fifteen (15) minutes for each half tour.
(c) Where an employee is authorized by her/his supervisor to miss the normal lunch break due to workload such employee shall be paid time and one half (1½) her/his regular straight time hourly rate for all time worked in excess of her/his normal daily hours.
15.02 The regular daily tours of duty of a full-time employee shall be five (5) days per week.
(a) Work schedules will be posted at least two (2) weeks in advance of their commencement and shall cover a four (4) week period. Copies of schedules will be provided to the Union upon request. Requests for specific days off are to be submitted in writing at least two (2) weeks in advance of posting.
(b) Requests for a change in posted time schedules must be approved by the Employer. Such requests will be submitted in writing, state the specific dates and tours of duty being exchanged and be signed by both employees. Such requests will not be unreasonably denied.
(c) Work schedules shall first be submitted to the Union for discussion, before changes are made and only changes discussed shall be implemented by the Employer. Full-time employees shall not have their normal hours of work reduced by the utilization of any part-time or casual employee.
15.04 Regular part-time employees must make themselves available for a commitment of sixty (60) hours bi-weekly. This is not to be construed to be a guarantee of available work.
15.05 Casual part-time employees are those employees whose employment may vary in length from day to day and week to week, and who:
(a) Work on a “call” or “short-notice basis”; or
(b) Replace regular part-time employees when there are no other regular part-time employees not in an overtime positions available for work. The pay for any one day for a casual part-time employee may not be less than four (4) hours unless otherwise agreed to by the employee, the Employer, and the Union.

(4) The provision of Paragraph 2(d)(1) shall not apply in occupational and or administrative units where employees' scheduled hours of work and scheduled days do not normally vary.

(b) Alternative starting and stopping times may be arranged by the Hospital with the appropriate notification to the employee(s) involved and discussion with the Union.
(c) The day shift is the first shift of the day for all scheduling purposes.
(a) The Hospital shall post eight (8) week work schedules six (6) weeks in advance of being effective, such that at least six (6) weeks of unworked time is posted on an ongoing basis. Schedules will be accessible to employees on a twenty-four (24) hour basis. If the manager cannot post the schedule in accordance with the above, the manager shall inform the BUP prior to the delay, with reasons for the delay, and the new amended date of the posting of the schedule. Requests for specific days off are to be submitted electronically at least four (4) weeks in advance of posting. Changes to the posted schedule will only be considered electronically and approved by the manager or designate. Requests for changes to the posted schedule shall not result in overtime payment. Requests will not be unreasonably denied. The manager or designate will respond to the request for changes within three (3) business days of receiving the request.
(b) A minimum of twelve (12) consecutive hours shall be scheduled between a change of tours.
(c) At least forty-eight (48) hours off shall be scheduled following the completion of night tours when changing to day tours in accordance with the posted schedule unless otherwise mutually agreed between the nurse and her/his immediate supervisor.
(d) A weekend off shall consist of fifty-six (56) consecutive hours commencing no later than 2330 hours on Friday and ending no sooner than the beginning of the Monday day shift, unless otherwise mutually agreed between the nurse and her/his immediate supervisor.
(e) Christmas schedules shall be posted no later than November 1st of each year and will include the pay periods encompassing the nurses’ five consecutive days off. Requests, however, should be submitted by October 1st of each year. An employee is entitled to be off work either Christmas Day (including December 24th, December 25th and 26th) or New Year’s Day (including December 31st and January 1st). 14.03 Employees required for reporting purposes shall remain at work for a period of up to fifteen (15) minutes which shall be unpaid. Should the reporting time extend beyond fifteen (15) minutes however, the entire period shall be considered overtime for the purposes of payment.

(iii) Paragraph 2 (d)(3) 48 hour change is for emergencies and unforeseen circumstances only.
(4) The provision of Paragraph 2(d)(1) shall not apply in occupational and/or administrative units where employees' scheduled hours of work and scheduled days do not normally vary.
– HOURS OF WORK & SCHEDULING. E – 1 The rest periods as provided for in Article 13.01 (b) will be scheduled by the Hospital during each tour.
E – 2 The first (1st) tour of the day shall be the Day tour.
