Common use of BEREAVEMENT PAY Clause in Contracts

BEREAVEMENT PAY. Full-time and part-time employees averaging twenty-four (24) hours or more per week in the four (4) weeks preceding the bereavement, may be granted time off from work, with pay, to a maximum of three (3) consecutive scheduled work days, in the event of death in the immediate family. The length of such time off work shall be determined by the Company, provided the employee attends the funeral. The term "immediate family" shall mean spouse, common-law spouse, parent, step-parent, child, step-child, brother or sister, mother or father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchildren and grandparents.
