Conditions and Duration of Leave. For days of absence as a result of illness or injury arising out of and in the course of an employee's assigned duties and through no fault of his/her own, an employee shall receive disability pay for one (1) year to the extent that his/her loss of earnings is not covered by the benefits granted under the provisions of the workers' compensation laws of the State of California, unless he/she is terminated earlier. The total amount received from Workers' Compensation benefits and disability pay shall not exceed eighty percent (80%) of the employee's regular rate of pay. The City will notify the employee that he/she has the option of using accumulated sick leave to pay the residual, and unless the employee notifies the City otherwise, the residual will be paid by use of accumulated sick leave until such time as accumulated sick leave is exhausted.

Once sick leave is exhausted the employee may elect to use their accrued vacation and compensation time to supplement their pay. Modified Duty - The City will attempt to provide modified duty assignments for employees who are unable to perform regular job duties due to injury or illness. Modified duty assignments will be determined in accordance with the employee’s medical restrictions and at the needs of the business of the City.

  • Duration of Leave An eligible female employee may apply for pregnancy leave, to commence after the 22nd week of pregnancy for a duration of up to 17 weeks. The pregnancy leave of an employee who is not entitled to take parental leave ends on the later of the day that is seventeen weeks after the pregnancy leave began or the day that is six weeks after the birth, still-birth or miscarriage.

The Board shall pay the difference between compensation (excluding a travel allowance) for jury duty and the teacher’s salary if such duty is during teacher employment days.

  • Cancellation of Leave The Employer, upon prior notice to the employee, may cancel any approved leave of absence at any time the Employer has evidence that the employee is using the leave for purposes other than those specified at the time of approval.
