Death in the Family. (i) In the case of death in the immediate family, employees are entitled to and will be granted special leave on any of their normal working days that occur during the three (3) days immediately following the day of death. Additional days may be granted if and to the extent required to permit the employee to make arrangements and/or to attend the funeral, memorial or interment service, etc. In no case will the total special leave exceed three (3) working days except as provided below. Immediate family is defined for this purpose as father, mother, xxxxxx parents or step-parents, brother, sister, spouse or common-law partner, or child of the employee, father or mother of the employee's spouse; grandparents, grandchildren, or other relatives living in the same household with the employee.
