Departmental/College and university bodies that evaluate the research, artistic and creative activity of bargaining unit members shall take into account the short-term and long-term effects of the pandemic when making decisions evaluating bargaining unit members. Because of these circumstances, the university shall grant an automatic one- year extension to the tenure probationary period for all current probationary faculty, including new faculty. The requirements for earning tenure and promotion shall not be affected by this extension and stay on their original probationary schedule. Current probationary tenure-track faculty, including new faculty, who have not yet had their third-year review at the time of this agreement shall automatically have their third-year reviews extended by one year unless they communicate to their chair that they wish to opt out of the one-year extension to the tenure probationary period.
