Common use of Double Shifts Clause in Contracts

Double Shifts. An Employee shall not be required to work a double shift without the Employee’s consent. All hours worked beyond seven and one half (7.5) hours (eleven and one quarter (11.25) hours) shall be compensated in accordance with article 21.3 at time and one half and any additional hours worked after fifteen (15) hours shall be compensated at the rate of double time. A rest period of less than eight (8) hours shall not break the hours referenced above. If the rest period is less than eight (8) hours prior to the Employee’s next regularly scheduled shift, and the Employee is required to work, the Employee will continue to be compensated at the overtime rate. If the rest period is less than eight (8) hours prior to the Employee’s next regularly scheduled shift, and the Employee chooses to work, the Employee will be compensated at the Employee’s regular rate of pay.
