HONOR GUARD. Section 34.1 The Tulsa Fire Department shall establish at least an eight (8) person voluntary Honor Guard generally based on the guidelines provided from the Labor Management Committee with uniform standards set by the Fire Chief. Uniforms shall be provided by the Tulsa Fire Department and shall be retained as Department property.
Section 34.2 All Honor Guard activities shall be approved by the Fire Chief or his/her designee. Employees shall be compensated for approved Honor Guard activities. If such activities fall outside of their normal shift, Employees shall be compensated at the Employee’s option with either time and one-half compensatory leave or time and one-half overtime. It is understood the Chief shall give preference to the utilization of on-shift members for Honor Guard activities.
HONOR GUARD. Section 26.1 An Honor Guard consisting of thirty (30) Employees shall be selected by the Lodge. The composite of the Honor Guard shall be subject to approval of the Chief of Police. The function of the Honor Guard shall be to serve at official gatherings such as arrival of dignitaries, police officer funerals where an officer is killed in the line of duty, and other special events by request. Normally, and at the discretion of the Police Chief, a maximum of fifteen (15) Employees may be allowed time off with pay for each event, when the scheduling of time off will not impede the operation of the Tulsa Police Department. Time spent on Honor Guard duties shall be considered time worked.
HONOR GUARD. When a Deputy Sheriff performs approved duties for the Honor Guard Unit they will receive comp time for the duties performed outside of their normal workday. It is understood that scheduled work hours may be changed if needed to participate in an approved event
HONOR GUARD. When a Supervisor performs approved duties for the Honor Guard Unit they will receive comp time for the duties performed outside of their normal work day. It is understood that scheduled work hours may be changed if needed to participate in an approved event.
HONOR GUARD. Requests to serve as a member of the honor guard at City Sponsored events must include the number of proposed team members and proposed duration and must be approved by the Chief in advance in order to be a compensable assignment. Nothing in this agreement is meant to preclude staff from volunteering to serve as Honor Guard at non-compensable, non-City sponsored events.
HONOR GUARD. If the Chief of the YSU Police Department authorizes the use of the department honor guard at any function, the officer will be compensated with a minimum of four (4) hours of compensatory time or time and one half whichever is greater.
HONOR GUARD. The Community Liaison Office (CLO) is responsible for receiving requests for Honor Guard appearances. The CLO will determine the actual number of employees selected to serve as Honor Guard in accordance with the provisions below. The composition of Honor Guards for appearances not specifically mentioned in this Article will be at the discretion of the CLO.
A. California Firefighters Memorial (“California Memorial”) and International Association of Firefighters’ Memorial (“IAFF Memorial”)
1. Employees who have been selected to serve as Honor Guard for a Memorial shall be provided with three (3) days’ pay of ten (10) hours per day. The three (3) days shall be for the day of the Memorial, one travel day before the Memorial and one travel day after the Memorial.
2. If an employee is regularly scheduled to work during the three (3) days, the employee shall be provided paid time off for the entire shift.
3. There shall be a minimum of six (6) employees for each Honor Guard that is leading the procession.
4. There shall be a minimum of two (2) employees for each Department employee who is presented to the California Memorial wall or the IAFF Memorial wall.
5. There shall be a minimum of four (4) additional employees for other Honor Guard duties as agreed upon by the Department and Union.
B. Funerals for active Department Employees
1. Employees who have been selected to serve as Honor Guard for a funeral of an active Department employee shall be paid for actual hours worked.
2. If an employee is regularly scheduled to work on the day of the funeral, the employee shall be detailed, on duty, for the duration of the funeral plus reasonable travel time.
HONOR GUARD. The Honor Guard is a group of members approved by the Chief, and assembled to perform the duties at department ceremonies, community events and in the unfortunate event perform funeral details. All members of the Honor Guard are volunteers, and have agreed to perform all details without compensation. Off duty Honor Guard training events may be approved by the Chief for compensation.
HONOR GUARD. Honor Guard will be considered as bargaining unit members who wear the recognized Honor Guard uniform approved by the chief. If the Chief of the YSU Police Department authorizes the use of the department honor guard at any function, the member will be compensated with a minimum of four (4) hours of compensatory time or time and one half whichever is greater.
HONOR GUARD. (a) The City and Association agree to formalize the HFD Honor Guard. When staffing levels permit, the City and the Association may agree that the Honor Guard Commander shall be placed on special assignment during the term of this contract by utilizing the Association’s ABL Leave Bank The special assignment of working from administration and will give the Honor Guard the latitude to deal with the duties of their position while retaining the privileges of their current employment.
(b) It is understood that the Honor Guard Commander shall suffer no loss of longevity. seniority. pension, days off, or any other benefits as a result of and during the term of such special assignment. Provided, however, these members shall be entitled to educational and/or certification pay, if applicable, but shall not be entitled to premium assignment or incentive pay (i.e, overtime) unless directed by the Chief to perform Firefighter duties. When the term of the Contract expires the Honor Guard Commander shall be eligible to return to their previously assigned shift and duty assignment provided a certificate that is required has been maintained. The member’s leave for duty hours shall be limited to those straight time hours which were worked during the year proceeding the contract and no hours shall be worked for the City of Houston in excess of the maximum number of non overtime hours permitted by the FLSA or Section 142.0017 of the Texas Local Government Code. Any hours over and above that total which he shall work shall be sole discretion and request and insistence of the Association and subject to its control and supervision.
