Common use of Emergency Responder Leave Clause in Contracts

Emergency Responder Leave. Employees who are volunteer firefighters, auxiliary/reserve police, or a member of a local search and rescue organization, who are deployed on an emergency basis by the appropriate authority, shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for the duration of said deployment. The employee(s) will be eligible for continued coverage under the benefit plan as per Article 30.03. An employee has the option to use banked time to cover their unpaid leave of absence. In all circumstances the leave will only be granted following the employee’s current shift.
