Employees Hired and Actively Employed After. June 30, 2010 All employees hired and actively employed after June 30, 2010 shall be provided sick leave benefits as set forth in Iowa Code Section 279.40. Employees hired prior to the commencement of the school year shall be entitled to ten (10) sick leave days as of the first official day of said school year even though they are unable to report for duty on that day due to physical or mental illness. Employees who are hired and who begin work after commencement of the school year shall receive sick leave benefits prorated (on an annual basis of ten (10) days of sick leave for a full school year) to the date on which they are schedule to report for duty. Unused sick leave days shall be accumulated from year to year with a maximum of one hundred thirty (130) days.   • Active/Inactive Employee If you are covered under another plan as an active employee, your benefits and those of your dependents under that plan will be determined before benefits under this plan. The plan covering the active employee and dependents will be the primary plan. The plan covering that same employee as inactive (including those who are retired or have been laid off) will be the secondary plan for that employee and dependents.

  • Alternative Employment An employer, in a particular redundancy case, may make application to the Commission to have the general severance pay prescription varied if the employer obtains acceptable alternative employment for an employee.
