Five (5)-week adoption leave. A professional who legally adopts a child, other than his or her spouse's child, is entitled to a maximum of five (5) weeks of adoption leave which subject to paragraph E) and F) of this clause must be consecutive. The leave must end no later than the fifty-second (52nd) week following the week of the child’s arrival home. For the professional eligible for benefits under the Québec Parental Insurance Plan or the Employment Insurance Plan, the leave shall be concurrent with the period during which benefits are paid under either plan and must begin no later than the week following the start of benefits payment. The leave of a professional ineligible for benefits under the Québec Parental Insurance Plan or the Employment Insurance Plan must be taken after the order of placement of the child or the equivalent in the case of an international adoption in accordance with the adoption plan or at another time agreed upon with the board. The adoption leave shall be granted to a professional upon a written notice sent at least three (3) weeks in advance. The notice must indicate the anticipated expiry date of the leave. The professional to whom the board has sent such a notice must report for work on the date of expiry of the adoption leave, unless the leave is extended in the manner prescribed in clause 7-2.33. A professional who does not comply with the preceding paragraph is deemed to be on leave of absence without salary for a period not exceeding four (4) weeks. The professional who does not report for work at the end of that period is deemed to have resigned.

  • Parental/Adoption Leave (a) A nurse who has been employed for at least thirteen (13) weeks and who is a parent of a child is entitled to parental leave without pay following the birth of the child or the coming of the child into the custody, care and control of a parent for the first time, shall be entitled to thirty-seven (37) weeks (provided the employee did not take pregnancy leave) of parental/adoption leave of absence without pay in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act of Ontario as may be amended from time to time, except as hereunder set out in this article.

  • Adoption Leave (a) The employee will notify the employer at least ten weeks in advance of the date of commencement of adoption leave and the period of leave to be taken. An employee may commence adoption leave prior to providing such notice, where through circumstances beyond the control of the employee, the adoption of a child takes place earlier.

  • Maternity/Parental/Adoption Leave Maternity/Parental/Adoption leave shall be granted as a right as per the Employment Standards Act.

  • Maternity/Adoption Leave An employee who is pregnant and who has three (3) months or more of continuous service with the Company shall be granted leave of absence under the terms and conditions of the Employment Standards Act except as herein otherwise provided:

  • Parental Leave/Adoption Leave An employee will be granted unpaid parental leave for a period up to and including thirty-five (35) weeks, upon request and verification of:

  • Pregnancy/Parental/Adoption Leave Pregnancy Leave will be in accordance with the current Employment Standards Act (Pregnancy and Parental Leave) at the time of application. (See Appendix A)

  • Election Leave Employees shall be allowed four (4) consecutive hours off before the closing of polls in any federal, provincial election.

  • Graduation Leave It is understood that in the case of secondary or post secondary graduation of self or spouse, son or daughter, one day leave with pay shall be granted. Two (2) days leave with pay shall be granted where travel arrangements necessitate such absence from school.

  • Maternity, Parental and Adoption Leave Employees are eligible for unpaid leave of absence from employment subject to the conditions in this article. Every employee who intends to take a leave of absence under this article shall give at least 30 days' notice in writing to the Employer unless there is a valid reason why such notice cannot be given and shall inform the Employer in writing of the length of leave intended to be taken. Each employee who wishes to change the effective date of approved leave shall give four weeks' notice of such change unless there is a valid reason why notice cannot be given.

  • Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave An Employee who is expecting the birth or adoption of a child shall be entitled to maternity/paternity/adoption leave without pay, provided she presents a medical certificate confirming the probable date of confinement, or in the case of adoption, gives the Employer notice of eligibility. Except in extenuating circumstances, the notice shall be submitted in writing at least twenty-eight (28) days in advance of the leave and shall specify the probable date of commencement and the anticipated length of leave.
