General Electrical Safety. Only qualified personnel are permitted to work on unprotected energized electrical systems. • Only authorized personnel are permitted to enter high-voltage areas. • Do not touch electrical wiring and equipment unless qualified to do so. All electrical wiring and equipment must be considered energized until lockout/tagout procedures are implemented. • Inspect electrical equipment, power tools, and extension cords for damage prior to use. Do not use defective electrical equipment, remove from service. • Documented inspections monthly for all cord sets. Must include appropriate color-coded tape for the month (See Attachment 5). • All temporary wiring, including extension cords and electrical power tools, must have ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) installed. • Extension cords must be: • Equipped with third-wire grounding. • Covered, elevated, or protected from damage when passing through work areas. • Protected from pinching if routed through doorways. • Not fastened with xxxxxxx, xxxx from nails, or suspended with wire. • Electrical power tools and equipment must be effectively grounded or double-insulated UL approved. • Operate and maintain electric power tools and equipment according to manufacturers' instructions. • Maintain safe clearance distances between overhead power lines and any electrical conducting material unless the power lines have been de-energized and grounded, or where insulating barriers have been installed to prevent physical contact. Maintain at least 10 feet from overhead power lines for voltages of 50 kV or less, and 10 feet plus ½ inch for every 1 kV over 50 kV. • Temporary lights shall not be suspended by their electric cord unless designed for suspension. Lights shall be protected from accidental contact or breakage. • Protect all electrical equipment, tools, switches, and outlets from environmental elements. • Electrical cords and welding leads shall be suspended 7 feet in the air with non conductive material. • Electrical cords shall be rated for hard construction use. • Damaged cords shall be taken out of service immediately.

General Electrical Safety. Electrical systems and equipment that use or control electrical power can only be worked on by qualified electricians. • Do not operate electrical tools or equipment in wet areas where potentially flammable dusts, vapors, or liquids are present, unless specifically approved for the location. Intrinsically safe tools are required in areas where the potential for a hazardous atmosphere exist due to raw sewage or sludge. • Ensure that a qualified electrician checks the circuit and equipment and corrects the problem before resetting the breaker when a circuit breaker or other protective device trips. • The Contractor shall erect barriers and post warning signs to ensure non-authorized personnel stay clear of electrical work areas. • The Contractor must report hazards (lack of protective guards or covers, damaged equipment etc.) to the WPCB Shift Supervisor, Safety Specialist or the WPCB designee immediately. • Do not leave electrical boxes, switch gear, cabinets, or other electrical rooms open when not directly attended. Insulate energized parts when covers have been removed or doors are ajar. Use of cardboard, plywood, or other flammable materials to cover energized circuits is prohibited. • Contractors must establish and maintain an effective electrical safety-related work practices program. References for such a program include OSHA standards 29 CFR 1910.331 to 1910.333 – Electrical Safety Related Work practices and CFR 1926 Subpart K Electrical. • All electrical work shall be in compliance with the most recent (NFPA) National Fire Protection Association, NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70-E guidelines. • Unqualified persons i.e. WPCB or Contrators shall not be allowed to work or operate equipment within 10 feet of energized overhead power lines or crossing clearance from electrical distribution lines and 50 feet from transmission lines. Special permission in writing must be obtained from the power company for all work that involves 50 feet or less working clearance from overhead lines. The writtem documentation must be provided to the appropriate WPCB point of contact or designee prior to the beginning of work. • Extension cords used with portable electric tools shall be the 3-wire type, shall be protected from damage. Extension cords shall be inspected and maintained in accordance with the Contractor’s Assured Grounding Program. Worn or frayed cords shall not be used.   • Electrical appliance safety The Hirer shall ensure that any electrical appliances brought by them to the premises and used there shall be safe, in good working order, and used in a safe manner in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. Where a residual circuit breaker is provided the hirer must make use of it in the interests of public safety.

  • Fire Safety Resident will not tamper with fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, or exit signs. Resident will promptly evacuate Residence Facility upon the sounding of an alarm or as otherwise directed by College Housing staff. Resident will participate in any periodic fire drill and fire safety training conducted by College for the Residence Facility.

  • ELECTRICAL SERVICES The Company must construct and reticulate electrical requirements for all amenities and facilities. The Company must construct sub-station and distribution boards necessary to reticulate power to all Company owned or leased facilities which provide amenities to the public. The electrical installation must be to the design and installation standards of the State Energy Commission of Western Australia. All electrical reticulation must be placed underground.

  • Prescription Safety Glasses Prescription safety glasses will be furnished by the employer. The employer retains the authority to establish reasonable rules and procedures regarding frequency of issue, replacement of damaged glasses, limits on reimbursement costs and coordination with the employer's vision plan.

  • Safety Glasses Section 1. The City shall supply prescription safety glasses with plastic lenses to employees who are required to wear safety glasses and who are members of the classifications contained in Appendix C to this contract. Safety glasses which are authorized must be industrial grade safety glasses which meet or exceed the requirements of ANSI Specification Z87. 1. All employees who are required to wear safety glasses shall also be required to wear side xxxxxxx, either permanent or snap-on, whenever an eye hazard exists. Solid tinted glasses will not be approved unless required by prescription. Photogray, progressive, scratch coating and/or anti-glare lenses may be considered for those employees who primarily work outdoors or as prescribed. In the event that additional classes are identified as needing either prescription safety glasses or protective eyewear, such classes may be added to the classification list in Appendix C upon approval of PAGE and the City. Section 2. The City agrees to pay the full cost of required prescription safety glasses, with frames not to exceed $75.00. This excludes the cost of the eye examination which will be the responsibility of the employee. The effected employees will be allowed one (1) replacement of safety glasses every two (2) years. In the event the safety glasses become lost, unserviceable, or broken on the job, the employee must present a written request for replacement to the Department Head and Human Resources Director. If the employee breaks his safety glasses while on the job, the Department shall replace the glasses at no cost to the employee. The replacement of lost glasses or glasses that are broken off the job will be at the discretion of the Department Head and Human Resources Director. If an employee has been provided safety glasses by the City, the employee shall be permitted to retain possession of the glasses after separation from the City without reimbursing the City for any costs associated with the glasses. Section 3. An employee who is required to wear prescription safety glasses must present a written request to his department head or designated representative. Section 4. The employee must obtain a current prescription and the employee is authorized the use of sick leave not to exceed two (2) hours to accomplish this examination. The employee will obtain a purchase order from the Department Head prior to ordering the safety glasses. The employee will present the purchase order to the appropriate vendor when ordering. The vendor will contact the appropriate Department Head when the glasses are ready for delivery. The Department Head will then notify the employee who will present himself at the vendor for fitting and pickup. Section 5. In the event a probationary employee has been issued safety glasses and terminates his employment with the City for any reason during the probationary period, he shall be required to reimburse the City for any expenses incurred in the purchase of safety glasses.

  • Synchronous Generation The Interconnection Customer shall design its Small Generating Facility to maintain a composite power delivery at continuous rated power output at the Point of Interconnection at a power factor within the range of 0.95 leading to 0.95 lagging, unless the NYISO or the Transmission Owner in whose Transmission District the Small Generating Facility interconnects has established different requirements that apply to all similarly situated generators in the New York Control Area or Transmission District (as applicable) on a comparable basis, in accordance with Good Utility Practice.

  • Electrical Equipment Residents must use only CSA, UL-approved or Canadian-certified electrical equipment; the rated wattage of light fixtures must never be exceeded; and only replacement bulbs supplied by Waterloo maintenance staff may be used. Do not leave any unattended electrical equipment turned on (i.e. hair straighteners, lights etc.)

  • Rectification of Safety Hazard Where, because of the existence of a safety hazard, a site has been stopped for a defined period of time and Employees sent off site by agreement between Site Managers and any combination of Union Official/s, Health and Safety Committee, those people who remain on site to do rectification work will be paid at the rate of double time for all such work.

  • OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY (a) It is a mutual interest of the parties to promote health and safety in workplaces and to prevent and reduce the occurrence of workplace injuries and occupational diseases. The parties agree that health and safety is of the utmost importance and agree to promote health and safety and wellness throughout the organization. The employer shall provide orientation and training in health and safety to new and current employees on an ongoing basis, and employees shall attend required health and safety training sessions. Accordingly, the parties fully endorse the responsibilities of employer and employee under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, making particular reference to the following:
