Common use of Guild Leave Clause in Contracts

Guild Leave. If an employee is elected or appointed to a position in The Newspaper Guild, CWA, or AFL-CIO, or local of The Newspaper Guild, CWA, such employee, upon three (3) weeks advance notice to the Company, shall be given a leave of absence without pay, and shall be reinstated in the same or a comparable position upon the expiration of such leave. Such leave shall be limited to one employee at any given time, up to a maximum of one year in length, unless by mutual agreement between the Company and the union. Guild leave for the same employee shall be limited to a maximum of one every five (5) years.
