Health and Welfare Benefits and Rate of Town Contribution. The Town contracts with CalPERS for the purpose of providing employees and their eligible dependents with medical insurance benefits. During calendar year 2018, the Town will pay a maximum contribution of $133 per month to CalPERS for each eligible active employee towards the purchase of medical insurance for those employees who enroll in and receive such insurance through the Town. Beginning January 1, 2019, tThe Town’s maximum monthly contribution for each eligible active employee shall be equal to the minimum employer contribution required under Public Employees’ Medical and Hospital Care Act (PEMHCA), currently $149 per month, as may be adjusted by CalPERS from year to year.

Employees shall select either the Insurance Program or the Cash Allocation Program annually during the Town’s open enrollment period, or at any other time permitted by the PEMHCA, such as a qualifying event (e.g., birth of a child, marriage, spouse’s loss of medical coverage, etc.)
