Assignment and Scheduling. The Union recognizes the Town right to schedule standby assignments for employees at Town discretion. Standby assignments shall be made in order to provide services outside the regular work schedule. Standby shall be assigned for the months of November through March, with additional standby periods to be determined on an as-needed basis at the discretion of the Department Director. Standby assignments shall be scheduled on a volunteer basis, using a list of all employees and offered by rotation based on seniority. Each rotation will last for seven (7) days. Seniority for the purpose of this section is defined as total continuous service to the Town. In the absence of volunteers, the Town shall schedule standby. To the best of its ability, the Town shall schedule standby assignments as far in advance as possible. The Union recognizes the need for standby provision of services and further recognizes that employee failure to respond when assigned standby duty may be cause for disciplinary action including termination.
Assignment and Scheduling. An assignment is the act of appointing a faculty member to a post or duty within his/her employment capacity in order to meet student and district requirements.
Assignment and Scheduling. It is in the best interest of the District and the intent of both parties to hire experienced, noncredit faculty to work with a cohort of noncredit students either at the College and/or particular off-campus site.
1. When there is a need for noncredit faculty service beyond that provided by regular, contract, and /or other District full-time faculty, the following are the factors to be considered in developing the work assignment of noncredit unit members for all semesters and sessions. • Minimum qualifications and/or appropriate certification (Title V Section 53412) • Demonstrated competency, expertise and/or training in the discipline, sub-field of the discipline, or particular assignment • Previous service/experience with the College and/or off-campus site • Previous overall rating of 4 or 5 in a formal evaluation as per Appendix B or E • Investigated Complaints • Availability for the assignment • Request by the noncredit unit member to continue with the same cohort at the same site as the previous semester • Unit members who have been or are currently being investigated for a legitimate violation of the District’s written policies and procedures, that has been reviewed by Human Resources, may not receive an assignment.

2. The Xxxx of Continuing Education or other appropriate administrator (or his/her designee) shall assign noncredit courses to noncredit faculty, based on criteria outlined in Article 6 sections 6.3, 6.4 and 6.5.

Noncredit adjunct faculty may be employed in a noncredit assignment for a maximum of two hundred ninety-three (293) instructional hours per semester (or 67% of eight hundred seventy-five [875] instructional hours per school year or four hundred thirty- seven [437] instructional hours per semester as defined by Education Code 22138.5 for full-time noncredit faculty). If a noncredit adjunct faculty member is also employed in a credit adjunct assignment, the unit member can still only teach 67% of a full-time load. For example, consider an ESL unit member who would like to teach a 67% load that consists of a noncredit ESL assignment as well as an ESL-060 credit assignment: • ESL-060 credit load: 54.00 semester hours = 3.00 units (20% load or 3 units/15 units) • Noncredit load: 47% remaining noncredit load = 205 noncredit semester hours (47% of 437 hours)

Assignment and Scheduling. 6.1 The District agrees to use a form to solicit interest and availability from Unit Members for future assignments. Xxxxx and directors will collaborate with adjunct faculty during the development of a student-centered schedule for each semester/intersession.
6.2 Assignments will be made as early as possible.
6.3 Whenever possible, names of those Unit Members, who are assigned, will be printed in the class schedule and on the online class schedule.
6.4 The load of a Unit Member will not exceed 67% without approval from the Board of Trustees.
6.5 A full-time faculty member may bump the assignment of a Unit Member only if the class or classes are needed to fill out his/her full-time teaching load.
6.6 When scheduling adjunct assignments, the management supervisor shall consider (in a non-ranked order)

For purposes of this section, length of employment shall mean the unit member’s initial date of hire provided that the unit member has had an assignment during the previous four semesters. In the event the unit member has not had an assignment during the previous four semesters, the unit member’s most recent date with an active assignment will be used. To the extent course sections are available, the District will attempt to provide an assignment up to 67% of a full-time equivalent load. While the Federation and the District agree that the ultimate determination of assignment rests with the management supervisor, the Federation may file a grievance pursuant to Article 15 concerning this section where the management supervisor did not consider the above listed criteria. However, the Federation and the District agree that the ultimate determination of assignment rests exclusively with the management supervisor.

The noncredit unit member must submit a timesheet to be paid for these hours. If a class is cancelled after the initial meeting, the noncredit faculty will be paid for the time worked. The appropriate administrator (or his/her designee) will make a good faith effort to notify the noncredit unit member that they are entitled to compensation if the class was cancelled within a week of the start date.
4. After every good faith effort has been made to follow F.1-F.3 noted above, these considerations shall not limit or restrict the District's flexibility to schedule, make assignments or to add or eliminate course sections or other work responsibilities after the initial class schedule is developed.
