Holidays ― Day Observed. If a date-specific holiday listed in Section 20.1 falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be the County observed holiday. If a date specific holiday listed in Section 20.1 falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be the County observed holiday. All other date-specific holidays listed in Section 20.1 shall be observed on the date specified in Section 20.1.

For departments that operate less than seven (7) days per week, when one of the listed holidays falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the following Monday. When one of the listed holidays falls on a Saturday, the holiday will be observed on the Friday preceding the holiday. CTO will be used and paid to an employee when a regularly scheduled workday falls on an observed holiday, and the employee is scheduled off.

  • Weekend Holidays 9.3.1. A full-time employee who works a Monday through Friday schedule and the calendar holiday falls on a Saturday, the employee shall be allowed the preceding day off. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the employee shall be allowed the following day off. If the employee works the day preceding or following such a holiday, he/she shall be given another workday off with pay or shall receive payment for that day at the regular rate.
