HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME, PREMIUM RATES. Section 4.01: The basic straight time work week shall consist of forty (40) hours to be worked in five (5) eight (8) hour days, Sunday through Saturday. The basic straight time work day shall consist of eight (8) hours to be worked within nine (9) consecutive hours, except for a scheduled, uninterrupted meal period not to exceed one (1) hour, at as near as is practical the middle of the work shift, except that no employee shall be sche­ duled for more than five (5) hours without a meal period. All work performed in excess of eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours in the basic straight time work week, shall be compensated for at the overtime rate of pay of time and one-half (1VS>) the employee’s regular straight time hourly rate of pay.
