Individual Performance Improvement Plan. (IPIP): Evaluators shall develop an Individual Performance Improvement Plan for classified employees that are in danger of receiving an unsatisfactory performance evaluation. The IPIP must address the specific areas of concern with recommendations for improvement, including any training/professional development, from the evaluator and the employee. The evaluator must meet with the employee no sooner than 30 days prior to an evaluation due date to review and implement the IPIP. No overall evaluation rating of unsatisfactory performance shall be given to a permanent employee that did not have an IPIP implemented for at least 30 days prior to the evaluation due date.

The IPIP must address the specific areas of concern with recommendations for improvement, including any training/professional development, from the immediate supervisor and the employee. The immediate supervisor must meet with the employee no sooner than 30 days prior to an evaluation due date to review and implement the IPIP. No overall evaluation rating of unsatisfactory performance shall be given to a permanent employee who did not have an IPIP implemented for at least 30 days prior to the evaluation due date.

In particular, such a plan should: » ensure at a regional level there is adequate time for teams to review performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop and test changes to drive improvement; and » provide regional or facility support to departments as needed to cross-cover or backfill and jointly determine the most cost-effective manner to provide the support.
