Laundry Employees Handling Foul Linen. 3.15.1 Laundry employees personally required to collect foul linen from the xxxx chutes and wrap such linen into bundles or required to sort foul linen or who are in charge of the washing machines in which foul linen is cold rinsed and boiled while still in the foul condition shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $1.50 per shift in addition to the wages prescribed in subclause 3.6 for laundry employees. 3.15.2 For the purposes of this clause “foul linen” means linen that contains body excrement of a nature or quantity which makes it offensive to a reasonable employee. 3.15.3 All other employees who handle linen of a foul nature other than linen bagged or packed in containers shall be paid 67c per day or part thereof in addition to the wages prescribed by this clause for the classification of the particular employee concerned. 3.15.4 From the first pay period commencing on or after 1st September 2010, the Foul Linen Allowance detailed in Clause 3.16 above will be rolled into the wage increase effective the same date and will no longer apply as a separate allowance.
Laundry Employees Handling Foul Linen. (a) Laundry employees required to collect foul linen in an unbagged state and wrap such linen into bundles; and (b) Employees required to sort foul linen in an unbagged state at the laundry; and (c) Employees in charge of the washing machines in which foul linen in an unbagged state is cold rinsed and boiled while still in the foul condition shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $3.10 per week in addition to the wages prescribed in this Agreement. (d) All other employees who handle linen of a foul nature other than linen bagged or packed in containers shall be paid $0.62 per day or part thereof in addition to the wages prescribed by this Agreement for the classification of the particular employee concerned: (e) Provided that for the purposes of the payment of this allowance, the term ‘foul linen’ shall mean foul linen which has not previously been rinsed or washed outside the laundry.

  • Auxiliary Employees ‌ (a) An auxiliary employee shall receive a letter of appointment clearly stating their employment status and expected duration of employment. (b) Auxiliary employees who have worked 1827 hours in 33 pay periods and who are employed for work which is of a continuous full-time or continuous part-time nature, shall be converted to regular status effective the beginning of the month following the month in which they attain the required hours. (c) For the purposes of (b) above and Clauses 31.6—Application of Agreement, 31.9—Medical, Dental and Group Life Insurance, 31.11—Annual Vacations and 31.12—Eligibility Requirements for Benefits, hours worked shall include: (1) hours worked at the straight-time rate; (2) hours compensated in accordance with Clause 31.10—Designated Paid Holidays; (3) hours that a seniority rated auxiliary employee cannot work because they are on a recognized WCB claim arising from their employment with the government to a maximum of 420 hours of missed work opportunity within 14 calendar weeks from the beginning of the claim; (4) annual vacation pursuant to Clause 31.11(d)—Annual Vacations; (5) compensatory time off provided the employee has worked 1827 hours in 33 pay periods; (6) missed work opportunities during leaves pursuant to Clause 2.10 (a) Time Off for Union Business—Without pay, except that during the first 33 pay periods of employment such credit shall be limited to 105 hours; (7) leaves pursuant to Clause 2.10(b)—Time Off for Union Business—With pay; Notwithstanding (3) above, an auxiliary employee eligible for conversion to regular status shall not be converted until the employee has returned to active employment for 140 hours. The effective date of such conversion shall be the first of the month following the date on which eligibility for conversion occurs. (d) For the purposes of (b) above and Clauses 31.6—Application of Agreement, 31.9—Medical, Dental and Group Life Insurance, 31.11—Annual Vacations and 31.12—Eligibility Requirements for Benefits, hours beyond the 420 hours in (c)(3) above, that an auxiliary employee cannot work because they are on a recognized WCB claim arising from their employment with the government are not added to the 1827 or 1200 hours nor are the days charged against the 33 or 26 pay periods.

  • Replacement Employees (a) A replacement employee is an employee specifically engaged or temporarily promoted or transferred, as a result of an employee proceeding on parental leave. (b) Before an employer engages a replacement employee the employer must inform that person of the temporary nature of the employment and of the rights of the employee who is being replaced.

  • Ambulance Escort Where a nurse is assigned to provide patient care for a patient in transit, the following provisions shall apply: i) Where a full-time nurse performs such duties during her or his regular shift, the full-time nurse shall be paid her or his regular rate of pay. Where a full-time nurse performs such duties outside her or his regular shift or on a day off, she or he shall be paid the appropriate overtime rate. ii) Where a part-time nurse performs such duties during an assigned shift, she or he shall be paid her or his regular rate of pay. Where a part-time nurse continues to perform such duties in excess of her or his assigned shift, she or he shall be paid the appropriate overtime rate. (b) Where such duties extend beyond the nurse's regular shift, the Hospital will not require the nurse to return to regular duties at the hospital without at least eight (8) hours of time off. Where such time off extends into the nurse's next regularly scheduled shift she or he will maintain her or his regular earnings for that full shift. (c) Hours spent between the time the nurse is relieved of patient care responsibilities and the time the nurse returns to the hospital or to such other location agreed upon between the Hospital and the nurse will be paid at straight time or at appropriate overtime rates, if applicable under Article 14. 01. It is understood that the nurse shall return to the hospital or to such other location agreed upon between the Hospital and the nurse at the earliest opportunity. Prior to the nurse's departure on escort duty, or at such other time as may be mutually agreed upon between the Hospital and the nurse, the Hospital will establish with the nurse arrangements for return travel. (d) The nurse shall be reimbursed for reasonable out of pocket expenses including room, board and return transportation and consideration will be given to any special circumstances not dealt with under the foregoing provisions. NOTE 1: (Note 1 applies to full-time nurses only) The Hospital agrees to continue to pay any greater monetary benefit for ambulance escort duty if such greater benefit has been paid by the Hospital immediately prior to this Agreement. This note applies at Hospitals where this superior condition exists as of December 14, 1987. NOTE 2: (Note 2 applies to part-time nurses only) The Hospital agrees to continue to pay any greater monetary benefit for ambulance escort duty if such greater benefit was paid by the Hospital under a Collective Agreement immediately prior to this Agreement. This note applies at Hospitals where this superior condition exists as of December 14, 1987.

  • Maintenance Employees The normal hours of work for full-time Maintenance employees are 72 ½ hours over a two (2) week period, not to exceed eight (8) hours per day.

  • Fixed Term Employees The only terms of this Agreement that apply to employees who are not regular employees are those that are set out in Articles 31A, 32, 33 and 34. 31A.1 Articles 31A.2 to 31A.16 apply only to fixed-term employees other than seasonal, student and GO Temp employees.

  • New Employee Orientation The Union will provide each agency personnel director with the names and addresses of up to two (2) authorized Union representatives per agency to receive notice of each formal orientation meeting held by the Department. The notice will be sent as soon as such meetings are scheduled (but not less than ten (10) days in advance) and will include date, time and location. Due to operational exigencies, agencies may schedule an orientation which will provide the Union with less than the requisite ten (10) days' notice; however the Union shall be notified as soon as possible after the scheduling of the orientation and the Union representative shall be released from duty. Agencies shall routinely schedule orientations in a manner that will allow for the ten (10) day advance notice to the Union. During the formal orientation, the Union will be permitted to give a twenty (20) minute presentation which may include an enrollment in supplemental Union benefits. The parties shall encourage employee attendance, although attendance shall not be mandatory if an employee objects to attending the presentation. In the event a formal orientation meeting is not held, or the Union is unable to attend the formal orientation because the designated Union representatives cannot be released under Article 4, the Employer shall allow the Union representative and the employee(s) to meet during duty hours at a mutually agreed upon time and location for twenty (20) minutes Employee participation in these meetings shall be encouraged although an employee shall not be required to attend such a meeting.

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Section 1. The Employer agrees to provide to the Union the statistical and program evaluation information provided to management concerning Employee Assistance Program(s). Section 2. No information gathered by an Employee Assistance Program may be used to discipline an employee. Section 3. Employees shall be entitled to use accrued sick leave for participation in an Employee Assistance Program. Section 4. Each university will offer training to local Union Stewards on the Employee Assistance Program available in their university, on university time, where an Employee Assistance Program is available.
