Leave to Care for a Newborn or Newly Adopted Child. 11 Unit members of either sex shall be granted unpaid leave of absence to run concurrently with any 12 mandated federal or State leave for the birth or adoption of a child. A unit member may receive 13 up to one (1) year of unpaid leave for the care of a newborn child under one-hundred-twenty 14 (120) days of age at the time the leave commences (or for an adopted child less than five (5) 15 years of age) provided that, where possible, at least sixty (60) days prior written notice is given 16 to the College. Employee health insurance benefits will be provided during the time that an 17 employee is covered under the provisions of the federal and state leave programs; thereafter, an 18 employee may elect to purchase continuation coverage under COBRA.
