Unpaid Leave of Absence definition

Unpaid Leave of Absence means a unit member will be entitled to: a. Retain the right of employment b. The same right to a position in the District as if the leave had not been taken c. Retain membership in the fringe benefit programs at the unit member’s expense unless otherwise provided for in this Agreement.
Unpaid Leave of Absence means a unit member shall be entitled to the same benefits accorded unit members who are on paid leave, excluding wages and benefits.
Unpaid Leave of Absence means that a teacher shall be entitled to have the option to purchase the same fringe benefits accorded teachers who are on paid leave.

Examples of Unpaid Leave of Absence in a sentence

  • Special Unpaid Leave of Absence means any of the following types of unpaid leaves of absence that do not constitute a Break in Service: (i) Leave protected by the Family and Medical Leave Act, (ii) leave protected by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act or (iii) Jury Duty (as reasonably defined by the Employer).

  • Employees who are absent from work and in receipt of WCB wage loss replacement benefits shall be considered as being on Unpaid Leave of Absence, except that seniority and benefits shall continue to accrue.

  • Reasons for Unpaid Leave of Absence (all unpaid leaves that apply are subject to the Family Medical Leave Act).

  • Where the Workers’ Compensation Board denies an employee’s claim (and/or appeal, if applicable), the employee shall reimburse the Employer for any health and welfare premiums paid by the Employer in accordance with Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence.

  • Employees requesting such leave will do so using the Unpaid Leave of Absence Request Form.


More Definitions of Unpaid Leave of Absence

Unpaid Leave of Absence means that a unit member is on an authorized, unpaid leave of absence, and is not entitled to receive wages. A unit member is entitled to purchase health benefits, and following the leave, he/she may return to a similar assignment to the one which he/she enjoyed immediately preceding the commencement of the leave.
Unpaid Leave of Absence means that a unit member shall not be entitled to District paid wages or benefits while on leave. However, contingent upon approval with the insurance carrier, unit members on any unpaid leave of absence shall, at their own expense, be permitted to participate in all insurance programs. Payment by the employee to be in a manner prescribed by the District.
Unpaid Leave of Absence means in respect of a Participant, a period of time during which, pursuant to the Corporation Policies or Applicable Law, the Participant is considered by the Corporation or an Affiliate, as applicable, to be on an approved leave of absence and does not continue to receive his salary from, or provide employment services to, the Corporation or an Affiliate, as applicable, which, for the purposes of the Plan, shall be deemed to commence on the 32nd day following the day on which the Participant commences such approved, unpaid leave, as communicated in writing to the Participant by the Corporation or an Affiliate, as applicable, in accordance with the Corporation Policies or Applicable Law.
Unpaid Leave of Absence means an approved leave of absence during which the Participant is not receiving salary continuation from a Company payroll, including a period of long term disability leave during which a Participant may be receiving long term disability insurance payments from a long term disability insurer.
Unpaid Leave of Absence means that an employee shall not receive wages and fringe benefits during the period of leave. Full- time faculty members who begin an unpaid leave during any pay period shall receive fringe benefits provided for in this Agreement for the balance of that pay period. After that pay period, payments for fringe benefits by the District will cease. After such cessation, employees, while on unpaid leave status, shall be allowed to continue such coverage at their own expense, where such is permitted by the terms of the insurance plan, provided they make advance payment of the premium in the manner established by the District. Where an employee is on unpaid leave during a school year for the equivalent of one (1) semester or more, he/she shall not receive a step increase for such year.
Unpaid Leave of Absence means a leave of absence during which the bargaining unit member shall not be entitled to wages or annual salary increment credit. The bargaining unit member, upon return, shall be entitled to the same rights he/she would have had if the leave had not been taken. While on leave, the bargaining unit member shall be entitled to continue health and welfare benefits by making premium payments, unless otherwise provided in this Agreement.
